A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
SUPPORTING SB 60 (CEDILLO) THE CALIFORNIA REAL ID ACT OF 2005
WHEREAS, Everyday lives are put into jeopardy because of the number of
unlicensed and uninsured drivers; and
WHEREAS, California residents need automobile transportation to work and care
for their families and therefore many drive without the proper training, insurance and
license thereby compromising highway safety for everyone; and
WHEREAS, The Federal Real ID Act of 2005 provides minimum document
design, security requirements and identity requirements for a federally recognized
driver's license; and
WHEREAS, The Federal Real ID Act allows states to issue a "driving only"
license that clearly state on its face that it cannot be used by any federal agency for
federal identification or for any other official purpose; and
WHEREAS, SB 60, the California Real ID Act conforms California law to the
recently enacted Federal Real ID Act of 2005; and
WHEREAS, SB 60 exercises the federally recognized option of provided a
"driving only" license for those ineligible for the federally recognized driver's licenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City hereby expresses its support for SB 60, the
California Real ID Act of 2005.
Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to carry out
any transactions as so ordered by this resolution.
