TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL CODE TO REGULATE
THE DISMANTLING OF MOTOR VEHICLES ON "R"
ZONED PROPERTIES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Sections 410, 510, 611 and 711 are hereby
added to the Temple City Municipal Code, each of which shall read
as follows:
Section . Disabled Vehicles.
1. Definitions: .The following words, for the purpo Ea::
of this Section, shall be defined as follows:
vehicle;
(a) "Park" shall mean the standing of a motor
(b) "Vehicle" shall mean and include "motorcycle ",
"motordriven cycle ", "motor truck ", "passenger vehicle ",
"station wagon ", "truck tractor ", "trailer ", and "vehicle ",
these phrases are defined in the Vehicle Code of the State of
California, and all similar types of vehicles; and
(c) "Store" shall mean to keep or locate for future
use; and
(d) "Repair" shall mean the work necessary to re-
store a vehicle to a useable condition; and
(e) "Dismantle" shall mean the removal or stripping
of one or more integral component parts from a vehl'cle;• and '
(f) Disassemble" shall mean the same as dismantle;
an d
(g) "Disabled vehicle' shall mean a vehicle which
is not operable by reason of the removal of or damage to
integral component parts; and
(h) "Driveway area" shall mean a paved, surfaced or
clearly delineated way not in excess of 20 feet in width
designed for vehicular ingress and egress.
SECTION 2. Parking of Vehicles. No person shall park any
vehicle or any component thereof, for any purpose, in any require('
front or side yard area on any "R" zoned lot except in a driveway
area; parking of vehicles shall be permitted in required side>rard,
if suh area is obscured from view by a 6 foot high solid fence
or wall.
SECTION 3. Repa r J)ismantlinq or Storage of Vehicles,
Pr_�h i ted, No person shall assemble, repair,
dismantle or store any vehicle, other than as herein provided, on
any part of an "R" zoned lot, unless such work is done:
(a) wiJ.hin an enclosed building, or
(b) in en open area which is completely enclosed by
view obscuring walls, not less than six (6) feet in height,
or by the exterior walls of a building or buildings.

SECTION 4. Exception.
(a) Provided that the prohibition imposed by sub-
paragraph (3) shall not be deemed to apply to 'che occasional
and incidental assembly or repair of vehicles owned by the
person in possession of the premises on which such caLes
place, if the time to accomplish the same does not exceed
four (4) hours in any 24 hour period.
(b) Provided that a disabled vehicle shell not be
stored, except as provided in subparagraph (3), for a period
longer than 72 hours.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to che passage
and adoption of this Ordinance, and to its approval by the Mayor,
and shall cause the same to be published once in the Temple City
Times, a newspaper printed, published and generally circulated in
this City.

by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
_day of December 1966, by the following vote of the
Council:
