Five positions are available to be filled. The deadline is January 18, in order for City Council to make appointments during the January 26 Council meeting. Chantel distributed the 2012 meeting calendar. The calendar denotes meeting dates and times for the BHT BOD, BHT Committee, City Council, Planning Commission, and Historic Preservation Commission. Organization: Budget Update Chantel reported the 2011 – 2012 BHT Budget is on target. However, money was taken out of the Dues and Fees line item to cover a “performance license agreement” the city entered into. Steele will be providing Chantel with more information about how and why this happened. He confirmed that he will transfer money from his budget to this line item, since it was not anticipated when the 2011 – 2012 budget was prepared. Monty inquired about breaking out the BHT budget from the city. Currently, there is no formal change of structure available. Promotions: Tybee for the Holidays (survey & review) Directors discussed the survey results Chantel received from the Tybee for the Holidays survey targeted at events during the first weekend of December. Traffic appears to be up on Tybee compared to 2010. Directors commented that the tree at the roundabout fits Tybee. Chantel commended Tammie Harvell and her team for the wonderful job they did in decorating the tree. The parade had close to the same participation as last year. Peggy and Chantel will continue to work on securing school band participation. The Holiday Shop-n-Stroll needs to be refined or not organized under the BHT program. Jim expressed concern about businesses being slow and / or closed last Friday (12/16) evening. The grant is for $25,000 - $150,000 with a one to one match for creative placemaking projects that contribute toward the livability of communities. Applications must show a partnership between a cultural nonprofit organization and local government. Patricia and Chantel commented this grant could benefit the BHT Mural Project concept if pursued.
