WELCOME
Monty welcomed everyone. Chantel introduced and welcomed Dicky Trotter. Dicky was appointed to
the Better Hometown Board of Directors at the last City Council meeting. Dicky has been actively
involved with the BHT Promotions Committee and volunteers as a Tybee Island Information Provider.
Dicky expressed his appreciation for being appointed a Director and is enthusiastic about the Better
Hometown Program and its impact on Tybee.
COMMITTEE REVIEWS
Chantel discussed the need for more merchant involvement with the Promotions, Economic
Restructuring and Design Committees. Stephen recommended an e-vite be sent to the businesses
regarding the meetings. Discussion ensued regarding personal invitations and the benefits to
businesses. Chantel commented that individuals share with her a variety of suggestions, challenges
and solutions. She extends an invitation for them to attend meetings. However, on average, time
constraints / willingness are reasons for not attending. Some individuals do not feel it necessary
because they have already talked with her (Chantel). Chantel will continue to convey what she is told
to the appropriate departments, individuals and / or committees. Monty suggested highlighting
incentives and resources for each committee as a way to increase participation.
Chantel provided an update to Directors regarding the BHT budget for FY 2012-13. She received an
email which reflected a reduction of $2,375 from the BHT budget. The reduction affects travel and
related, education and training and supplies and materials. Spending decisions will be discussed at
future meetings once the City budget is officially adopted.

not a need for prizes.
