WHEREAS the adoption of Resolution No. 3559 will memorialize the
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District’s adoption of the final FEMA -approved St. Louis Regional
Hazard Mitigation Plan.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District recognizes the threat that
natural hazards pose to people and property within the District’s boundary; and
WHEREAS the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District has participated in the
preparation of a multi- hazard mitigation plan, hereby known as the St. Louis Regional Hazard
Mitigation Plan , hereafter referred to as the Plan, in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act
of 2000; and
WHEREAS the Plan identifies mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate
long-term risk to people and property in the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District from the
impacts of future hazards and disasters; and
WHEREAS the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District recognizes that wastewater
and stormwater infrastructure management has an impact on whether people and property are
exposed to natural hazards, and the District will endeavor to integrate the Plan into its
comprehensive planning efforts; and
WHEREAS adoption by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District demonstrates
their commitment to hazard mitigation and achieving the goals outlined in the Plan.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT that The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer
District adopts the final FEMA -approved St. Louis Re gional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted on January 9, 2020.
