HomeMy Public PortalAbout10175 O R D I N A N C E NO. 10175 AN ORDINANCE, establishing an Amnesty Program for The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District to encourage the payment of delinquent District Wastewater and Stormwater User Charges. WHEREAS, The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District was created by the voters of St. Louis and St. Louis County pursuant to a special election on February 9, 1954, and WHEREAS, since the District's inception, a considerable number of delinquent Wastewater and Stormwater User Charge accounts have accrued, and WHEREAS, the legal remedies heretofore available to the District have made it difficult to effectively and completely collect many of said delinquent Wastewater and Stormwater User Charges, and WHEREAS, the District wishes to encourage the payment of said delinquent Wastewater and Stormwater User Charges through the implementation of an Amnesty Program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT: Section One. There is hereby established for The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District an Amnesty Program to encourage the payment of delinquent District Wastewater and Stormwater User Charges, wherein the District will waive all late charges and lien interest if all delinquent Wastewater and Stormwater User Charge balances are paid in full during the amnesty period established by Section Three hereof. Section Two. Pursuant to the aforesaid Amnesty Program, Users can contact the District and request the aforesaid waiver of late charges and lien interest upon the payment in full of all delinquent Wastewater and Stormwater User Charge balances, and all payments made hereunder must be received by the District or postmarked no later than November 30, 1997. Section Three. The Amnesty Program, as herein established shall commence on October 1, 1997, and terminate on November 30, 1997. Section Four. The Director of Finance is hereby authorized to take all action necessary to implement the Amnesty Program as herein established, including, but not limited to public notification of said Amnesty Program through the use of billing inserts. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted August 14, 1997.
