HomeMy Public PortalAbout19500626SCMeeting10 A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Savannah Beach post No. 154 of the American Legion presented to the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, a respirator to be used in the life - saving work and protection of the public who visit the beaches of said Town; and, WHEREAS, the Town of Savannah Beach recognizes the civic cooperation and public spirit of good will which the presenta- tion of this respirator by said American Legion Post No. 154 means to the citizens and visitors of the public beaches of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. NOW THEREFORE) BE IT RESOLVTD`by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, and it is hereby resolved by the authority of same, that the thanks and appreciation of the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, be extended to Savannah Beach Post No. 154 of the American Legion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of Council and that a copy thereof be sent to the Commanding Officer of said post No. 154. Councilman Lovell moved that the Finance Committee be authorized to cooperate with the Savannah Beach Recreation Com- mission, Councilman Brown seconded and the motion passed. There being no further business, Council adjourned, sub- ject to the call of the Mayor. Cler; of Council Mayor Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga. June 26, 1950 A special meeting of Town Council was held tonight in the Council Room at S P. M. and was attended by Mayor,Dutton, who presided, Councilman Peters, Brown, Smith, Lovell, Meddin and Town Attorney Solms, Jr. The meeting was called for the purpose of: (1) Receive the report of the Committee on parking meters. (2) Receive the petition of Mr. B. Taylor Smith, President of the Savannah Beach Chamber of Commerce protesting against park- ing meters. The Committee on Parking Meters reported as follows: 1 1 Mr. Smith was out of town but Mr. Brown and I investigated all places that made complaints. We made changes where we found complaints were justified and entitled to relief. It is not the purpose of this Committee nor of Council to work hardships on any business that may suffer from the effects of the parking Meters and where we find complaints are justified, favorable action will be taken. In view of these changes already made and some which may be made in the future, we recommend that the present meters re- main as they are and where they now exist. Respectfully submitted, Alex Meddin, Chairman Jimmie Brown petition of Mr. B. Taylor Smith, president of the Savannah Beach Chamber of Commerce, was read protesting against parking meters. Councilman peters moved that the report of the Committee on parking Meters be accepted and the petition of Mr. B. Taylor Smith be denied, Councilman Lovell seconded and the motion passed. July 3, 1950 A special meeting of Town Council was held at $ P. M. to- night in the Council Room and was attended by Mayor Dutton, who presided, Councilmen Brown, Hosti, Smith, Meddin, Lovell, Peters, and Town Attorney $olms, Jr.. The meeting was called for the purpose of complying with Section 6 of Act 64, S. B. 6o passed February 9, 194+9.
