AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ADDING
NEW SECTION 4265.3 TO ARTICLE IV OF THE TEMPLE
CITY MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. A new Section 4265.3, reading as follows, is
hereby added to Article IV of the Temple City Municipal Code:
Section 4265.3. Same.
It shall be unlawful for any person to
deal, play, carry on, open or conduct any game
of chance played with cards, dice, or any other
device, for money, checks, credit or thing of
value; and no person shall bet at any of said
prohibited games. There shall be excepted from the
effect of this Section, private games played for
purely social purposes in a private home or benevolent
society, provided such games are not conducted as a
commercial business and with respect to which there
is no promoter, house charges, advertising, promotion
or participation by the public.
SECTION 2. PENALTY. Any person, firm or corporation violat-
ing this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00, or
by imprisonment in the City or County Jail for a period of not to
exceed six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk of the City of. Temple City shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and to its
approval by the Mayor and shall cause the same to be published in the
Temple City Times, a newspaper of general circulation, printed,
published and circulated in the City of Temple City.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of May
1967.

1967, and was duly passed, approved and adopted by said Council,
approved and signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk at
a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 2nd day of May ,
1967, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen- Briggs, Harker, Merritt, Tyrell, Beckley
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen -None
