AUTHORIZING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR
ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES WITH DMR ARCHITECTS
ADDITIONAL SERVICES FOR ENGINEERING & REBID
CARTE RETPAVILION
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is in need of specialized architectural services in
connection with Additional Services for Value Engineering & Rebid for the Carteret
Pavilion on the Pier; and
WHEREAS, DMR Architects, 777 Terrace Avenue, Suite 607, Hasbrouck Heights, New
Jersey 07604, possesses the requisite experience and expertise to provide said services;
and
WHEREAS, DMR Architects has submitted a proposal to provide said services at a total
cost not to exceed $35,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have reviewed said proposal; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer certifies that funds are or will be available for
said put -pose. Account #:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The proposal from DMR Architects for specialized architectural
services in connection with additional services for value
engineering & rebid for the Carteret Pavilion on the Pier at a total
cost not to exceed $35,000.00 is hereby approved.
2. Annexed hereto is a copy of said proposal.
3. This action is approved as an award of a professional services
contract pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5(1)(a) in accordance with
the Borough's Fair and Open Process as authorized by law.

Value Engineering Redesign and Redocumentation:
The original design will be modified and adjusted to execute all of the items
that were previously submitted to the Borough for their review and approval.
The following items will be modified and adjusted based on the VE
Documents.
• The exterior Trellis will be removed.
• All (8) Skylights will be removed and replaced with structure & roofing.
• Exterior Composite Panels will be replaced with 1 /2" Azek panels
• The exterior sign will be removed.
• The Standing Seam Metal Roof will be changed to a TPO Roof,
• The metal ceilings/soffits at the main interior of the structure will be
removed. (Interior structure will be exposed & painted)
• The interior bar and associated plumbing & elec, will be removed.
• Specifications will be modified/ added and incorporated into the bid
documents.
Public Bidding
DMR will perform the following as part of the public bidding process:
• Prepare public bid documents (drawings and front end / technical
specifications) trade bid documents.
• Coordinate with Borough regarding public bid notice.
• Attend one (1) pre -bid meeting / site walk through with contractors.
• Respond to requests for additional information (RFIs) from the contractors
during the bid phase.
• Attend the bid opening and assist the Borough in reviewing the contractor
bids and providing a recommendation for the award of the bid.
