A RESOLUTION SELLING SURPLUS PROPERTY
TO THE BROWNSBURG FIRE PROTECTION TERRITORY
WHEREAS, a Flashover Container is a training prop especially designed to be able to simulate the
deadly conditions that would be commonly found during heavy fire and high heat conditions in a burning
room. The prop is designed so that firefighters sit below the main floor level of a room on fire, and watch
the flashover conditions happen in a controlled environment.
WHEREAS, The City of Greencastle Fire Department in co- operation with the District 7 Fire Training
Council has been approved for a maintenance grant to replace the current Flashover Container, which is
approaching 10 years in age.
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle desires to transfer ownership of said flashover container to the
Brownsburg Fire Protection Territory ( Brownsburg); and
WHEREAS, said transfer is being made pursuant to Indiana Code 36- 1 -11 -8;
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE hereby agrees to transfer
ownership of its flashover container to the Brownsburg Fire Protection Territory for the price of scrap steel
set on the date of possession by Brownsburg. Brownsburg shall be responsible for moving the container
as part of the purchase. The weight of the container is determined as equivalent to the weight of the new
container, for purposes of determining price.
Further, the City of Greencastle makes no warranty whatsoever regarding the flash container and
Brownsburg takes ownership to said container "as is" and shall hold the City harmless for any liability
arising from this transfer of property.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular
meeting this 1 3 day of ANA L , 2017.
