A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATE GENERAL FUND
BALANCE TO BE UT]I,IZED FOR ATTENDANCE OF THE LYNWOOD WOMEN'S
COMMISSIONERS TO THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COMMISSION FOR
WOMEN (NACW) CONVENTION BEING HELD FROM JULY 14-18, 2004
WHEREAS, The National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW)
serves as the national voice for state and local commissions for women as they work
toward women's equality and justice; and
WHEREAS, each year in July, the NACW holds its Annual Conference to draw
women together to discuss important issues affecting all women. The Lynwood
Women's Commission (LwC), a member of the NACW, actively participates each year
by sending two to three delegates to attend and exchange experiences, knowledge and
information on women's issues at the convention and
WHEREAS, traditionally, most of the NACW conventions have always been held
outside of California and only a few commissioners get the opportunity to attend these
conventions due to extensive travel costs and
WHEREAS, in the past years, the City Council had authorized an appropriation of
approximately $ 3,500 to avail two to three delegates to attend the annual conferences
being held in various parts of the United States; and
WHEREAS, this year, the NACW Convention will be held in Westin Pasadena,
from July 14-18, 2004; with the convention being held this year in Pasadena, California,
all the members of the commission can have an opportunity to experience networking on
women's issues with various commissions all over the United States with minimal
expense; and
WHEREAS, at its scheduled meeting in May of 2004, the members of the
Lynwood Women's Commission made a motion to request Council to authorize the
allocation of funds to accommodate all LWC members to attend the annual convention
since the venue is being held locally; and
WHEREAS, to promote public safety to attendees, the City Council hereby
authorizes a one night room accommodation for the commissioners attending the special
awards dinner sponsored by NACW conference; and
WHEREAS, shown below is a breakdown of cost to cover the convention
expenses for five members of the women commission and

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby authorizes the
allocation of necessary funds to enable all members of the Lynwood Women's
Commission to attend and represent the city at the 2004 Annual Convention of the
National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW) to be held in Pasadena,
California, and
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby authorizes a one
night hotel accommodation for the commissioners attending the special dinner awards
sponsored by the NACW convention, and
Section 3. The City Council of Lynwood hereby authorizes the following budget
transfer:

Section 4. The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby authorizes the City
Manager or her designee to implement all financial transactions as approved in this
resolution.
