A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STTT M OPPOSING
CASINO GAMBLING IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA
WHEREAS, a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution to
permit the operation of state - regulated privately -owned gambling
casinos in Dade and Broward Counties was rejected by the voters of
Florida in 1978, by a margin of more than one million votes; and
WHEREAS, another proposed amendment to the Florida Constitu-
tion to permit casino gambling in Florida is now in circulation; and
WHEREAS, casino gambling is associated with unsavory and
criminal activities which blight communities and destroy the quality
of life now enjoyed in Florida; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN
OF GULF STREAM:
Section 1. The Gulf Stream Town Commission hereby declared
its opposition to any amendment to the Florida. Constitution per-
mitting casino gambling in the State of Florida.
Section 2. The Town Clerk shall deliver copies of this reso-
lution by mail to the Governor of the State of Florida, each member
of the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation and each member of
the Palm Beach County Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF
GULF STREAM this 14th day of May , 1982.
