a claim against the Town for injuries sustained by her when
she fell over a piece of pipe in the street at smith Road
and the Strand at 8 p. M., August 8, 1951, the claim is for
1192.95,. which mr. Raskin claimed if it is not settled, then
he will sue for $2500.00. It was moved and seconded that the
claim be denied.
it was moved, seconded and passed that eighteen
(18) Venetian Blinds be purchased from the.Kool Vent Co.,
as per their estimate, for 1135.00, installed.
At the last meeting of Council the Santa Elena
Company petitioned for permission to subdivide Beach Lot 114,
Ward 5, this permission was granted, but the question has
subsequently come up as to whether the planning Board should
pass on this matter first. The matter was referred to the
Town Attorney for his opinion.
There being no further business, Council adjourned,
subject to the call of the Mayor.

The regular meeting of Town Council was held today
at 4 p. M. in the Council Room and was attended by Mayor Dutton,
who presided, Councilmen Meddin, Lovell, peters, Coleman, Town
Attorney Solms, Supt. Reed, Chief MoCutohen, Mr. Lang, Mr. Frank
Futrelle and Mr. Milton Ard.
Dr. Robert S. Coleman was administered the oath of
office by Mayor Dutton as follows:
I, Robert 8. Coleman, do solemnly swear that I will
faithfully and, honestly perform the duties of Councilman of the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to the beet of my skill
and ability, without favor or affection, so help me God.
Councilman Coleman was welcomed to the Beard and he
stated that he would endeavor to do his very best.
Mr. Ard and Mr. Futrelle representing the Route 17
Association requested the support of the Town in getting
changes made to Route 17. The Mayor informed them that the
Town was for it and would endorse it and would present it to
the Savannah Beach Chamber of Commerce as they should also
handle it. It was moved seconded and passed that the following
Resolution be adopted.

Supt. Reed stated that the Savannah Electric Co. had
made a cheek and report on the burning out of the motors in
some of the pumping stations, Councilman Lovell stated that
the Town was partly at fault as the motors will not kink out
when over- loaded, Savannah Electric Co. recommended putting
heating elements on the motors, he suggested that a competent
electrician be employed to run a test on all stations, there
are several firms in Savannah that could do the work, he also
stated that he would talk to several of them and get suggestions.
Mr. Reed stated that the labor situation was bad, the
Mayor stated he had spoken to Mr. Burns who said he would try
to get 20 men for him, Mr. Reed said that common labor will
not work for .75% per hour, Councilman Meddin recommended in-
creasing labor pay if necessary.
Councilman Meddin stated that the bulk head near Tilton
Street is giving away and a ditch is needed along Tilton to
drain surplus water to the back of Island, Councilman Strong
stated that a larger pipe should be placed under 2nd Avenue,
he suggested the Highway Department might help.
Councilman Lovell stated that there were a number of
water meters being installed and that Mr. Reed does not have
time to do it, he suggested having a plumber do it for the fee
that the Town charges, the Mayor asked if Mr. Lang could do it
using unskilled labor. Mr. Reed stated that there were two more
water mains to run, he has salvaged some galvanized pipe.
The Mayor asked if Pine Street near Campbell subdivi-
sion had been opened, Mr. Reed said that part was cleared sever-
al years ago.
Councilman Lovell stated that the Whitmire Tank Co.
would start repairing the water tank on the 20th, Whitmire es-
timated $750.00 to repair the inside of the tank less $400.00
for cathordio protection. Referred to Councilman Lovell with
power to act.
Chief McCutchen stated that regarding parking meters
the Dual Co. agreed to install gaskets while their Mrs, Harlow
was here, the gaskets did not come while he was here, his men
will not have time to install now, he said when the gaskets are
shipped the Dual Co. will wire him. The Chief was instructed
to contact Mr. Somme in connection with this.
Chief McCutchen requested that one of his men be sent
to the Dual Factory for a weeks course in servicing. Dual will
train without expense to the Town, but the Town will be required
to pay other expenses, Chief McCutchen also stated the Town
needs a new police Carvand the motorcycle nedds overhauling.
It was moved, seconded and passed that bills for Gen-
eral Government for February amounting to $2,686.60 and bills
for Construction Account, Water Dept., $1,066.68 and Revenue
Account, Water Dept., $1577.91 be paid.
Mr. Solms informed Council that Mr. Sidney Raskin,
Att'y. for Mrs..Qussie Sherman had filed a. claim. against the
Town for injuries sustained by her, he also stated that re-
garding delinquent taxes of Mrs. Marguerite Dooley that they
had paid 4 years and agreed to pay the balance in 90 days,
it was moved, seconded and apeeed' that payment be accepted
without interest and the balance be paid in 90 days from
date.
The Mayor issued instructions that no licenses be
issued for whiskey or beer if parties were in arrears in
their taxes.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the following
persona be named Managers in the election to be held on Mon-
day, April 7, 1952:

Mr. T. B. McCarroll

There being no further business, Council adjourned,
subject to the call of the Mayor.

be allowed on the 1951 taxes of T. Z. Rushing.

A special meeting of Council was held taday at 9;30
P. M. in the Council Room and was attended by Mayor Dutton,
who presided, Councilman Meddin, Lovell, Strong, Hosti, peters,
Coleman and Town Attorney Solms,
The meeting was held for the purpose of receiving a
report of the Managers of the election held today as follows:
We, the undersigned, who were duly appointed as
Managers of the election for Mayor and Councilmen of the Town
of Savannah Beach, by resolution adopted by Council at a meet-
ing held on the llth day of March, 1952, and who have conducted
