HomeMy Public PortalAbout2022.08.10 GCAC MinutesGCAC Meeting Minutes August 10, 2022 5:00 pm Golf Course Event Tent Roll Call: Ken Sterns, Todd McKenna, Rita Bolli-Neal, Eric McCormick, Allan Morrison Public Comment and Guests: No public comments received. Approval of Minutes from July 13, 2022 Meeting: Todd made a motion to accept the minutes from July's meeting, Ken seconded. Motion carried. Superintendent's Report: Eric mentioned the course has been a challenge with the large number of tournaments and participants. He is also losing summer staff which adds to the challenge to just keep up with the mowing. The paver project is almost complete with memorial benches to be installed tomorrow. The contract for rebuilding and improving the tee boxes will need to be rebid according to the city attorney based on the cost of the entire project, which requires 3 bids. if Landscapes Unlimited submits a bid that is accepted, the project could begin this fall. The ramp entrance project will be delayed until next spring. There are cost concerns. And different options are being considered based on concrete costs vs. pavers and alternative ways to accommodate a temporary handicap access. Some tree trimming and cattail trimming was requested. Golf Pro's Report: The Amateur was a big success. The Junior Amateur was full and the Ladies' participation was up 30 %. There were cart rental problems with a higher demand by observers that could not be accommodated. $250 K was raised in total at the Calcutta. August revenue was up $9274 over last year, We hosted the largest Pro -Am in Idaho with 42 teams participating. Best Ball Scramble is this weekend with 183 players. The IGA will be hear Aug 23/24 to do course rating. The Men's Club Championship will be Aug 27/28. The Ladies' Club Championship will be Aug 31/Sept 1. The 2 Man Scramble will be Sept 10/11. He is down to zero cart boys and staffing is a challenge. Old Business: The search for the new golf pro has been started using the PGA system to advertise and broaden the search. There are 15 applicants to date and the deadline to apply is Aug 191h. The first interviews will be held on Aug 24- 26. The Committee appointed Todd and Rita to participate on the interview committee. A "Meet and Greet" will be held for the community to meet with the finalists. The goal is to make an offer to the top candidate in September. The Project List was reviewed. It was suggested to consider using an outside contractor to perform stump removal.
