ORDINANCE 1997 -22

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
THE GREENCASTLE PLANNING AND ZONING ORDINANCE
BY AMENDING THE ZONING MAP
•
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the City of Greencastle, has initiated and passed
Plan Commission Resolution 1997 -22 to amend the Greencastle Planning and Zoning map; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission held a public hearing on December 1,
1997, after timely notice of the hearing was given by publication in the Banner - Graphic,
Greencastle, Indiana on November 21, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has reported that it paid reasonable
regard to the following factors enumerated in I.C. 36 -7 -4 -603 in consideration of the
recommendation to be made to the Common Council:
1. The comprehensive plan;
2. Current condition and the character of current structures and uses in each
district;
3. The most desirable use for which the land in each district is adapted;
4. The conservation of property values throughout the jurisdiction;
5. Responsible development and growth; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Plan Commission has recommended that such area be
rezoned from C -3; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has considered the recommendation of the
Greencastle Plan Commission and has paid reasonable regard to the factors enumerated in I.C.
36-7-4-603 before acting on this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has determined that this ordinance should be
adopted without amendment as certified by the Greencastle Plan Commission.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle as follows:
SECTION I REZONING

That the City of Greencastle Zoning Map is hereby amended by changing the zoning
classification for the following described real estate from C -3 to R -2.

Legal Description: Part of the North West quarter of the South West quarter of
• Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 West, being also a part of lots 10, 11, and 14 of
Daggy's Addition to the Town, now City, of Greencastle, described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the intersection of Madison and Elizabeth Streets thence northeast along the
north line of Elizabeth Street 90 -1/2 feet; thence north 121 feet; thence east along the north
line of lot 14 of Daggy's Addition to the center of vacated Iowa Street; thence north along the
centerline of vacated Iowa Street to Earp Street; thence west along the centerline of Earp Street
to Madison Street; thence south along the centerline of Madison Street to the intersection of
Elizabeth Street and the point of beginning.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle
Common Council and its approval by the Mayor.
The Clerk- Treasurer of the City of Greencastle is directed to publish this ordinance by
inserting a copy of the ordinance in the official set(s) of the City of Greencastle Code
maintained on file for public inspection in the office of the Clerk- Treasurer and by noting
zoning amendments on the zoning map.
