ORDINANCE NO. 3
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING CHAPTER 13
(FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION), SECTION 13-43 (AMENDMENTS, DELETIONS,
AND INSERTIONS), SUBSECTION 7, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON
PERTAINING TO THE 2009 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE REGULATION FOR YARD
WASTE OPEN BURNING SEASON.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 13 (Fire Prevention and Protection) Section 43 (Amendments,
Deletions, and Insertions), Subsection 7, of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, is
amended as follows:

FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION
Sec. 1343. Amendments,deletions and insertions.
7. Insert the following in Section 307.
307.6.1 Yard Waste: Open burning of leaves, grass clippings, tree limbs, and vegetation grown on a
property is permitted from November 144 of each year through March 1+3 of the following year, during
daylight hours unless restricted or prohibited under section 307.2.2 by the code official. In the event of an
emergency declared by the Mayor,or person acting as such,the City Administrator may authorize the open
burning of yard waste,branches,trees,and other materials he deems appropriate and under such conditions
as he may proscribe.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after March 31,
