A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY
BISCAYNE, FLORIDA; PURSUANT TO SECTION
18-29 OF THE CODE OF METROPOLITAN DADE
COUNTY NOTIFYING METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
THAT IT WISHES TO EXERCISE THE OPTION TO
PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE MEANS OF DELIVERING
FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES WITHIN THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER
1, 1993; PROVIDING FOR TRANSMISSION AND
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY BISCAYNE,
FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, this Council has determined that it would be in the
public interest for the Village of Key Biscayne to provide fire and
rescue services by means other than through the Metro -Dade Fire and
Rescue Service District (the "District"); and
WHEREAS, the Village Council has carefully reviewed the cost
of having fire rescue services provided to the Village of Key
Biscayne through the Metro -Dade Fire and Rescue Service District;
and
WHEREAS, the Village Council has determined that the cost to
the Village for Fire and Rescue services through the District is
well in excess of the cost of obtaining those services through
other methods; and
WHEREAS, Section 18-29 of the Code of Metropolitan Dade County
provides a method whereby municipalities may opt out of the
District;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY
BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. That the Village of Key Biscayne hereby exercises
its options pursuant to Section 18-29 of the Code of Metropolitan
Dade County to provide an alternative means of delivering fire and
rescue services within the Village effective October 1, 1993.

Section 2. The District is hereby notified that effective
October 1, 1993, the boundaries of the District should be adjusted
to exclude the Village of Key Biscayne.
Section 3. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to the ::ayor of Metropolitan Dade
County, the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of
Metropolitan Dade County, the Chairperson of the District and the
Clerk and Executive Director of the District.
Section 4. This resolution shall be effective upon
adoption.
