Oldenburg LETTER TO COUNCIL The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you that I have appointed John Oldenburg as the Parks and Public Spaces Director effective Monday, March 10, 2014. 1 have asked John to oversee public appearance and infrastructure, as well as recreation programming for the Village. I have attached a copy of John's resume for your information and review. John joins our team with 26 years of experience in local government management, serving in a variety of capacities in parks and recreation administration. Most recently, John served as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation in the City of Miami Beach. In this role, he oversaw the Greenspace Management Division, which is responsible for the landscape maintenance of over 520 acres of City parks, facilities and public rights -of -way, as well as landscape planning and design. A certified arborist and nursery professional, John understands the importance of green aesthetics, and will ensure that best practices in landscape maintenance and design are instituted within our public areas. John also served on the Miami -Dade County Community Image Advisory Board, whose mission is to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance and improvement of major roadways and transportation terminals throughout the County. John's knowledge and experience will serve our community as we strive to improve the appearance and aesthetics of our public spaces. Please join me in welcoming John to the Bal Harbour team. During my tenure, it was my top priority was to ensue the world-renowned green aesthetics of Miami Beach flourish, while directing the landscape management for all city controlled parks, municipal building grounds, parking facilities, and rights of way. Substantially contributed during the design, construction and subsequent maintenance of parks and facility improvement in excess of $125 million to include; 30 parks, 14 playgrounds, and five dog parks, three community gardens and two nationally recognized 18 hole golf courses. Extensively contributed during the design, construction and subsequent maintenance of rights -of -way improvements in excess of $115 million.
