Gonzalez, Village Manager DATE: October 23, 2014 SUBJECT: Town of Surfside Notice of Zoning Hearing for The Shul (9540 Collins Avenue) The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to advise you that the Town of Surfside has scheduled a public hearing to consider the Zoning application from The Shul located at 9540 Collins Avenue. This hearing will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town of Surfside, Commission Chambers, 9293 Harding Avenue, Surfside, FL. The Commission will consider a request by The Shul for approval of a site plan for the extension of the synagogue and a special exception to permit a pre-school as an ancillary use to a synagogue. JMG/PAR ��:SURFSIpE,��; TOWNOF SURFSIDE NOTICE OF ZONING HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Town Commission of the Town of Surfside, Florida, in the Commission Chambers, 9293 Harding Avenue, Surfside, Florida on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., to consider the following Zoning application: Application: The Shul Location: 9540 Collins Avenue Summary: Approval of a site plan for the extension of a synagogue and a special exception to permit a pre-school as an ancillary use to a synagogue. Requests: Pursuant to Section 90-41 of the Town Zoning Code, site plan approval of a 5,122.9 square foot social hall/multiuse space to be used for assembly, eight classrooms for Montessori preschool, 16 classrooms for youth programs, multipurpose rooms, adult education and seven offices as well as an additional 27 parking spaces. Pursuant to Section 90-37 (2) of the Town Zoning Code, Special Exception approval to permit the pre-school as an ancillary use to a synagogue. Plans are on file and may be examined in the Building Department entitled "The Shul", prepared by Shapiro Associates, submitted January 22, 2014 consisting of 28 sheets total including cover sheet. Legal Description: Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, Block 3 subdivision Altos Del Mar No. 6 according to the plat thereof a recorded in Plat Book 8, Page 106 of the Public Records of Miami -Dade County Florida, 9512- 9524-9532-9540-9550 and 9560 Collins Avenue, Surfside, Fl. 33154. Size of Property: Total property including existing and expansion area 54,000 square feet (1.24 acres). Expansion total area 20,250 square feet (.46 acres). Zone: H-40 All persons are invited to appear at this meeting and be heard or be represented by an agent, or to express their views in writing addressed to the Town Clerk, Town of Surfside, 9293 Harding Avenue, Surfside, Florida, 33154. Maps and other data pertaining to these applications are available for public inspection during normal business hours in Surfside, Florida. Any zoning hearing may be continued at this meeting and under such circumstances, additional legal notice would not be provided. Any persons wishing to speak at a public hearing should register with the Town Clerk prior to that item being heard. Inquiries regarding the item may be directed to the Town's Building Department at (305)861-4863. This notice does not constitute consent by the Town for introduction or admission of otherwise inadmissible or irrelevant evidence, nor does it authorize challenges or appeals not otherwise allowed by law. Any person wishing to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at this meeting or hearing will need a record of the proceeding and for such purpose may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made; which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made.
