SUBJECT: Art Basel Shuttle Service
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to advise you of the results of the Art Basel
Shuttle Service that was provided to residents during last weekend's art festivities.
During the last decade Art Basel Miami Beach has grown dramatically into what is now
recognized as one of the most important art fairs in the world. This growth has resulted in
the establishment of a variety of satellite fairs and events surrounding the main Art Basel
Miami Beach event.
In recognition of this impact and to ensure residents can fully partake in the festivities, the
Village's Tourism and Parks and Public Spaces departments coordinated complimentary
shuttle transrortation during Art Basel weekend from Friday, December 7'hthrough Sunday,
December 9 ", 2014. The Departments notified residents through a postcard mailer and on
Ch. 77 detailing the trip dates, times, maps, and rendezvous points. Additionally, residents
were advised of a direct line to call for any questions. The outreach to residents resulted in
the pre -registration of seventy six (76) participants.
The trips themselves ran on hourly intervals to ferry passengers to and from the Miami
Beach Convention Center 12pm — 8pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11am — 6pm to
the Midtown Miami complex on Sunday. This allowed residents to attend Art Basel's main
event at the convention center while also engaging in the nearby Village -sponsored Untitled
tour at the Bass Museum. Similar, the Sunday trip included access to various free Wynwood
area arts fairs and the nascent Art Miami fair.
The trips were conducted by a Tourism -funded bus captain, who greeted residents as they
boarded the bus, assisted them with information regarding Art Basel's associated events,
and recorded ridership information; which is detailed below:

The overall cost for conducting the complimentary shuttle was $880.00. Provided below is a
detailed breakdown of the cost components:
