Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.
May 18, 1953
A special meeting of Town Council was held today at
6 p. M. in the Town Hall and was attended by Mayor Dutton,
who presided, Councilmen Peters, Hosti, Brown, Strong, Lovell,
Town Attorney Solms, Chief McCutchen and Supt. Reed.
The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing
the:
Problems of the Sanitary Sewerage System.
.Water Department.
Licenses fdr the year 1953 -54.
Hearing a petition for a bathing area near Ft. Screven
Ward.
And to take action thereon.
Councilman Strong stated that he had talked to Mr.
Lee Fulton, who said he wanted to keep at least twenty (20)
prisoners at the Tybee Camp, Councilman Strong also stated
that Mr. Kelly Burns would try and get the men down next week.
The Mayor informed Council that several Negro Organiza-
tions in Savannah had again repeated their request for a recre-
ational area at Savannah Beach.
