Gonzalez, Village Manager 4 DATE: January 23, 2015 /U1 SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of January 19 -23, 2015 The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication and transparency. The same female then attempted to return merchandise to Saks Department Store using a fraudulent identification card. Female was detained and subsequently arrested by BHPD. Subsequent investigation revealed the female was in possession of an inventory device designed to remove security devices from merchandise. Stolen purse was recovered and female was charged accordingly. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/16/15 Damaged Property 96 St. & Bal Bay Dr. Gate Narrative Street Sweeper Truck struck the gate while exiting. The gate was knocked off its track rendered in- operable. Cones were placed at the gate and Police Units were posted during peak hours in order to monitor pedestrian entries. Kent Security was contacted and the gate was repaired on Saturday 01/17. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/18/15 Damage Property 98 St & Bal Cross Drive Pedestrian Gate Narrative Resident notified police of damage to the pedestrian gate at 98 St & Bal Cross Drive, the gate handle was bent. Police notified village security of the damage to the gate. O 1 f ' �pot'teE+ FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/20/15 0230 hours Suspicious Person 10210 Collins Avenue Narrative Complainant called police in reference to a suspicious person who was seen jumping the wall into the gated community. The complainant asked the suspicious person what he was doing and then waited (10 minute time delay) before calling the police. The male matched the description of a subject of a burglary that had occurred earlier in Sunny Isles Beach. BHPD Units canvassed the area for the subject with negative results. The Officers briefed the main gate guard as well as Bal Harbour Shops Security. Shops security advised that a staff member had observed a subject matching the description by the North parking lot of the shops. Security Guard advised that the subject exited the premises prior to them making notification to the police department. Bulletin issued for all officers to be on the lookout for the suspect's general description. Completed by: Captain M.
