Gonzalez, Village Manager -6 DATE: January 30, 2015 SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of January 23 - 29, 2015 The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication and transparency. Date Incident Arrest Location 01/25/15 Traffic Stop/Arrest 9800 Collins Ave Narrative Arrestee was observed driving south on Collins Avenue in a white Dodge pick-up truck with an expired tag. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and upon the officer approaching the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Subsequent consensual search revealed 3.8 grams of marijuana. Arrestee was charged accordingly. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/26/15 Traffic Stop/Arrest 9600 Collins Ave Narrative An officer observed a white Mini Cooper traveling south on Collins Avenue with an expired tag. A traffic stop was conducted and upon the officer approaching the vehicle a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. The driver voluntarily produced the marijuana to the officer and was charged accordingly. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01-26-15 Traffic Enforcement 96 St/Harding Ave Narrative In an effort to reduce and prevent pedestrian related accidents, officers have continued educational and enforcement activities at the intersection of Harding Ave and 96 Street. Several warnings and traffic citations were issued at the location. The detail is conducted during peak pedestrian and vehicular traffic. OVERTO Chief of Police I C FLA` Date Incident/Arrest Location 9701 Collins Av 01/28/2015 Dumpster Fire Bal Harbour Shops 96 St Exit/Entrance Narrative An officer observed smoke and flames emitting from the large dumpster located inside the 96 Street Entrance/Exit to the Bal Harbour Shops. Shops security and Bal Harbour Police Officers used extinguishers to keep the fire under control. The area was secured and the fire department Engine 21 responded and extinguished the fire. The fire is not suspicious in nature as per Miami Dade Fire Department. No injuries or further property damage reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/29/2015 Harassing Phone Calls Residence in the Gated Community A resident phoned police in reference to harassing phone calls from an unknown individual claiming to be a Microsoft Windows Technical Support Representative. This is a confidence crime in which they attempt to gain access to personal information. Completed by: Captain M.
