HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 01:246No. 01-2/.I.6 Dale or' Adoplion. .AU~l: 9,~ 2001 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A SCAVENGER SERVICES CONTRACT - ABDI INDUSTRIES WHEREAS, on June 7, 2001, the Borough of Carteret ("the Borough") passed Resolution #01-176 authorizing a temporary extension of the Borough's Solid Waste and Disposal Contract with Manella and USA Sanitation, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Manella and USA advised the Borough, that due to labor difficulties, it could no longer guarantee the provision of garbage collection services to the Borough pursuant to said extension of its contract; and VOtEREAS, the continued and uninterrupted provision of garbage collection and disposal services is vitally important to the public health, safety and welfare of the Borough; and WHEREAS, ABDI Industries, Carteret New Jersey, has agreed to assume the duties and responsibilities of Manella and USA Sanitation, Inc. for the same collection and disposal of solid waste within the Borough under the same terms and conditions as provided for pursuant to the Manella and USA Agreement; and WHEREAS, the Borough is desirous to enter into an agreement with ABDI Industries for the aforesaid scavenger services on a monthly basis until the Borough enters into a new garbage collection and disposal contract; and WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has indicated that funds are available within the Municipal Budget for the same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as follows: 1. A contract between the Borough of Carteret and ABDI Industries for the collection and disposal of solid waste is hereby approved for a period of 120 days at a monthly fee of $38,433.44; 2. A notice of this award shall be advertised as required by law. Adopted this 9th day of August, 2001 and certified as a true copy of the original on August 10, 2001. KATHLEEN M.
