Gonzalez, Village Manager DATE: February 20, 2014 ) — SUBJECT: Beach Re -nourishment Prof The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to highlight the details regarding the Beach Re -nourishment Project approved as a component of the Sewer Sand Agreement at the February 17, 2015 Council meeting. The mobilization for this project is planned to begin on Wednesday February 25, 2015. The affected Property Managers are also receiving this information in advance, by way of the attached email. The following is the staging plan for spreading the sand on the beach. • We will be spreading 9,090 cubic yards of mined processed "white" sand from the SDI mine • The trucks will come across 79th Street Bridge and drive North on Collins Avenue and be backed down 96th Street with a flagman; we estimate 36 trucks per day. The trucks will dump at the end of 96th Street • We would set up an orange construction fence enclosure around a stock pile where we will load two articulating 30 cubic yard off -road dump trucks with a loader. We will have a Flagman and Police Officer at this location • The two trucks will travel together to the northern most replenishment area and will be escorted by a Flagman and Police Officer • The areas are divided into 13 sections; each section will be fenced off and filled. We will use a dozer to spread the sand. We estimate one section per day. The fence will be removed and the next section will be fenced. The work will start at the most Northern section #19 and progress South We will store the dozer, loader and two trucks in the area being filled each night The estimated time for completion is three to four weeks. We request permission to work 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. This will affect the beach area adjacent to your properties and as such the Parks and Public Spaces Department seeks to advise all affected parties of the process. Beginning approximately on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, the installation of 9,000 cubic yards of clean white sand will commence at the North Section of the Beach adjacent to the Jetty. Sections of the beach will be temporarily fenced off while the sand is placed. When the section has received its allotment of sand, the fencing will be promptly removed and re -installed moving south incrementally. This process will take approximately 4 weeks to complete, once sand placement begins. When the temporary fencing is installed, we will need all beach furniture/equipment removed from the section until the work is completed. We understand this project will affect the usage of beach behind your individual properties for a short duration and we will expedite this process accordingly. Unfortunately, this sand must be placed on the beach prior to the turtle nesting season which begins in late April and thus we cannot postpone this work. The attachment provides further details of this project. We ask that you disseminate this information to your individual associations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and contact me if you have additional questions. Best Regards, John A.
