Gonzalez, Village Manager DATE: February 27, 2015 SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of February 20-26, 2015 The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication and transparency. Date Incident/Arrest Location 291 Bal Bay Drive 02-21-15 Trespass Construction Site Quarzo Building Under Renovations Narrative Bal Harbour Police Communications Center received a call in reference to a male observed leaving the construction site. An area search revealed a female subject concealing herself in the stairwell of the structure. Further investigation revealed items indicative of the possibility that there may have been additional subjects in the area. An area search was conducted with the assistance of Miami Dade Police aviation and canine units; however the search did not reveal additional individuals present. The female subject was arrested for trespassing on a construction, which is a felony. The location was placed on the security watch list, which ensures that officers check the property twice per shift. The Lieutenants also met with representatives of the property in order to further secure the location and provide additional lighting at night. OVERTON •1 '� Chief of Police FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 02/22/15 ADA W/Fire Rescue 10200 Collins Ave(Ocean) Narrative A 911 call was received from Miami Dade Police advising of a possible drowning on the beach in the 10200 block of Collins Avenue. Bal Harbour Police officers responded, however upon their arrival, the victim had been rescued from the water by beachgoers. The juvenile victim was treated by Miami Dade Fire Rescue and transported to Mount Sanai Hospital for precautionary reasons. The victim was released from the hospital in good condition. The Bal Harbour Police Department shall formerly recognize the rescuers for their actions. Date Incident Arrest Location 02/23/15 Disturbance/Arrest 655 96`h Street(BHV Park) Narrative Bal Harbour Police officers were requested to the village park in reference to a dispute over a stolen cellphone. Upon their arrival the officers spoke to each of the individuals and both parties agreed to settle the matter. A routine records check of one of the individuals did reveal a Bench Warrant (arrest order) for driving with a suspended driver's license. The individual was arrested for the warrant and transported to jail. Date Incident/Arrest Location 02/24/15 Grand Theft Is' Degree 9700 Collins Avenue 100% Capri Narrative Pursuant to on -going investigation, the Miami -Dade Police Department arrested two (2) individuals for Grand Theft. The investigation revealed that an employee was removing items from the store, without knowledge or consent from the store proprietors. The employee and an accomplice would then sell the items from their residence. Several items belonging to the store were recovered during the investigation. Total value of the merchandise recovered was estimated at $500,000. Bal Harbour Police assisted the Miami Dade Police Department with this investigation. Date Incident Arrest Location 02/26/2015 Open Door 9800 Collins Avenue Narrative During a patrol of the west side apartments, an officer discovered an open door to a meter room. A precautionary inspection of the property did not reveal anyone present nor evidence that anyone was utilizing the property for shelter.
