AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARKING AND
TRAFFIC CONTROL IN THE AREA OF
GOBIN MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
WHEREAS, DePauw University, hereinafter referred to as the "University ", and
Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, hereinafter referred to as the "Church ", have
proposed revisions in the traffic flow and parking on Simpson and Spring Streets
adjacent to the Church; and
WHEREAS, the University has agreed to make available (without dedication)
certain additional property for parking on the South Side of Simpson Street and the
Church and University agree to maintain such area; and
WHEREAS, the parking on the North side of Simpson Street will be eliminated
and approximately 8 to 12 additional parking spaces will be created on the South side
of Simpson Street:
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of Greencastle that the
amendments to the respective ordinances set forth herein be adopted.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED as follows:
• Section 1: That Chapter 442 -30, Schedule of One Way Streets, be amended to add
Spring Street as a one way street running North from Simpson to Seminary.
Section 2: That Chapter 443 -10, Schedule of No Parking Zones, be amended to
eliminate parking on the North side of Simpson Street between Locust and Spring
Streets except for a 20- minute drop- off /pick -up zone.
Section 3(a). That Chapter 443 -50, Schedule of On- Street Reserved Handicapped
Spaces, shall be amended to eliminate the handicapped parking on the North side of
Simpson Street and to create one (1) additional handicapped parking space on Locust
Street immediately adjacent to Simpson Street, which area shall be handicap restricted.
Section 3(b). That Chapter 443 -50, Schedule of On- Street Reserved Handicapped
Spaces, be amended to add one handicapped parking space on the East side of Spring
Street as designated and marked by the Church.
