SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Case- Media Attention
This Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with additional information regarding a
recent case that received national media attention. On September 13, 2014, a resident
of 10205 Collins Avenue was the victim of what is known as a Crime of Confidence.
This type of crime occurs when a criminal with the intent of defrauding the victim, gains
the victim's trust and then exploits that opportunity to steal from the victim.
The Bal Harbour Police Department relentlessly investigated this incident, and on March
3, 2015, positively identified the perpetrator of the crime as Alexandria Martinez -Davis
who has a history of arrests for similar con -artist related crimes in California, Nevada
and New Jersey. The investigation revealed that Ms. Martinez -Davis would frequently
travel to Miami -Dade County and target male patrons at South -Beach Night -Clubs. The
Bal Harbour Police Department exhausted all leads pertaining to Ms. Martinez —Davis'
exact whereabouts. Subsequently, on Monday, March 9, 2015, the Bal Harbour Police
Department released her identity to the public with the objectives of: generating leads
as to her location; to identify the existence of additional victims; and to prevent her from
committing future similar crimes. On Thursday, March 12, 2015, Ms. Martinez -Davis
turned herself in to Bal Harbour Police detectives and was arrested for Grand Theft.

As a result, the Bal Harbour Police Department has received information from other
police department's that Ms. Martinez -Davis is suspected of victimizing members of
their communities as well.

The above subject accompanied the victim to his apartment from
the bar at the Fontainebleau Hotel. The victim noticed his Rolex
watch and Gucci Shoes missing. The above subject is seen on
surveillance video (right photo) wearing the victim's shoes while
leaving the building.
