Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/13/2015 Inoperable Phone Lines & FDLE Bal Harbour Police Station Terminal Narrative At approximately 8:30 PM, the Telephone lines at the Police Station became inoperable disabling the police department's connection with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Computer Terminal, which prohibited officers from conducting criminal history and clearance inquires. Miami Dade County Communications Shift Commander was notified as well as our neighboring agencies which assisted Bal Harbour Police with any FDLE inquires or Entries. Mr. Richard Carmenaty was contacted and subsequently arranged for a technician to respond and repair the phone service. OVERTON Chief of Police A FLA, Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/13/2015 @ 5 PM Assist of SPD/Arrest 655 96 Street Narrative An individual was observed as he stole a bicycle from the rear of the CVS Pharmacy in the Town of Surfside and attempted to load it onto a Miami -Dade Transit bus. Witnesses yelled at the suspect causing him to abandon the bicycle and flee the area. The bicycle's owner contacted the Surfside Police Department, who broadcasted a description of the suspect. Based on the broadcast But Harbour Police began to canvass the area for the suspect, who was located near the Bal Harbour Police Administration Building and detained. Surfside Police officers responded and took custody of the suspect which was arrested for Grand Theft. Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/14/15 DUI/Arrest 10200 Collins Avenue Roadside Narrative The Bal Harbour Police Department was advised of a four (4) vehicle crash at the 10200 block of Collins Avenue. Upon the arrival of the officers one of the drivers involved in the crash displayed signs of impairment and was suspected of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). A DUI certified officer responded to the scene and conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, which he failed. The individual refused to submit to a breath test in order to determine his blood alcohol level, and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. An inventory search of the suspect's vehicle revealed an opened bottle of vodka and four empty cans of beer. The items were photographed as evidence to assist with the prosecution of this case. Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/16/15 Suspicious Males 9701 Collins Ave Bus Bench Narrative During the Collins Avenue Golf Cart visibility detail, But Harbour Police Officers observed two males asleep by the bus stop across from the St. Regis Hotel. The individuals appeared to be homeless and upon being awakened, were offered medical and shelter assistance. The individuals refused all assistance and advised they were waiting for the bus, which arrived during the conversation. The individuals boarded the bus and left the area. Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/18/15 Vehicle Accident 96 Street & Bal Bay Narrative The guard house for the gated community reported a vehicle accident in which a vehicle had struck the security pole for the rear gate of the gated community, knocking it from its base. The vehicle left the area, however during the course of the investigation, the driver returned, admitting responsibility for the crash. But Harbour Police officers documented the crash and photographed the damage 655 NINETY-SIXTH STREET 9 BAL HARBOUR FLORIDA 33154 " (305)866-5000 " (305)993-5153 FAX BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT 1 00V1 ARBovq.t MARK N. 111111N - t Chief of Police e' FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/18/15 Arrest Theft of Stolen Tag Misdemeanor 10200 Block North Lot (Bridge) Narrative While conducting an after-hours inspection of the north parking lot, officers observed a parked vehicle that appeared suspicious. A records check of the license tag revealed that it had been reported stolen. Since the vehicle was unoccupied at the time, the police officers established surveillance and waited for the occupants to return. A short time later, two suspects were observed entering the vehicle and were detained as they drove out of the parking lot. An investigation into the matter revealed the vehicle to be a rental car which was overdue for the return date and the license plate had been stolen off of a similar vehicle to avoid detection. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for the stolen tag and the vehicle was towed to be returned to the rental car company Completed by: Captain M.
