Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/27/2015 Hazardous Condition Harbour Way / Collins Avenue Narrative While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, officers noticed a crown top of a Royal Palm tree obstructing the side walk. The palm tree possibly sustained the damage during the inclement weather conditions that occurred on Friday, March 27, 2015. As a precaution, the sidewalk was temporarily closed to pedestrian traffic. Public works personnel responded and removed the fallen portion of the tree. Once the debris was completely removed, access to the sidewalk was re -opened to pedestrian traffic. OVERTON Chief of Police of HAReFR' i , oLlcE..�. rru,, FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/28/2015 Drug Possession / Obstruction 10200 Block of Collins Avenue North Lot Narrative While officers were conducting a mandatory check of the North Municipal Lot, a suspicious vehicle occupied by four males was observed parked in one of the parking spaces. As the officers approached the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Officers also observed open containers of alcoholic beverages within the interior of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed two of the occupants were in possession of two small clear zip -lock baggies that contained suspected narcotics. The two males were subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded. Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/29/2015 Ordinance Information 10100 Collins Avenue Beach Walking Path Narrative Officers were dispatched to the area of the beach regarding a male walking his dog on the beach walking path. Officers were able to locate the male and his dog, when the officers approached the male, he explained to the officers he misunderstood the particulars of the ordinance. After the officers provided the male with information regarding the new ordinance, the male complied and immediately removed the dog from the walking path. No further action warranted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 03/30/2015 Robbery/Strong Arm 400 Block of 96 Street Narrative Officers were dispatched to the 400 Block of 96 Street for an alleged Strong Arm Robbery. Upon the officers' arrival, a male (Victim) informed the responding officers that he was walking Westbound on 96 Street from Collins when he was approached by a Hispanic male wearing all black clothing. The victim told the officers the male grabbed him, threw him into the bushes, punched him and pinned him to the ground. The victim said the male then removed his wallet, cell phone, passport and house keys. The victim said once the male removed his property, the male fled running West on Collins Avenue and then South on Byron Avenue. Officers immediately broadcasted a detail description of the male perpetrator to the local police agencies. An area canvass for the male perpetrator was conducted by Bal Harbour and Surfside officers, however, the perpetrator was not located. The victim sustained minor abrasions and bruises, however, declined medical attention. It should be noted that the sergeant on scene reported numerous inconsistences in the victim's statement to officers regarding the incident. Detective Gonzalez will conduct a follow-up investigation to determine the validity of the alleged crime. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/01/2015 Graffiti 96 Street Bridge Narrative While conducting a security bridge check officers discovered that someone had spray painted graffiti under the bridge on 96 Street. Public works personnel responded and painted over the graffiti.
