Gonzalez, Village Manager \ ,��/ DATE: April 10, 2015 Uk o SUBJECT: New Appointment in Parks and Public Spaces Department  Jason Atkinson The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you of a new team member, Jason Atkinson, who joined the Village staff on March 25, 2015, as the Operations Supervisor. Mr. Atkinson replaces the recently retired Operations Supervisor Leonard Robinson. In this role, Mr. Atkinson will assist the Village with the daily public works, beautification, and emergency management functions along with special project support activities. Mr. Atkinson brings to the Village nearly 20 years of progressive operations experience with nearly 10 years in supervisory capacities in both the public and private sector. He was most recently employed with the City of Miami Beach as the Public Works Operations Supervisor. Mr. Atkinson possesses pertinent experience in providing technical direction and supervision to field staff and crews in a wide array of functions, including: " Extensive experience in Green Space and Right -of -Way management; strong knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, equipment and materials used in facility maintenance, irrigation design and maintenance, landscape/arbor care, and contract administration. " Experienced in the installation and repair of water mains, sewer, and drainage lines; replacing sanitary clean -outs, installing sanitary sewer lines and catch basins; replacing valves and hung fire hydrants; as well as various drainage structures. " Considerable experience in patching roads, compacting ditches, acquiring densities and removing/repairing sidewalks and curbs. " Expertise in managing a fleet of vehicles and machinery, including repair and maintenance, procurement of equipment, vehicles and supplies. " Strong knowledge of OSHA Regulations pertaining to arboriculture and civil engineering. In addition to his operational experience, Mr. Atkinson is a veteran of the United States Army where he served 4 1/2years honorably as an Avionics Technician / Paratrooper. In continuing to broaden his knowledge base and skill sets, Mr. Atkinson is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in public administration.
