OVERTON kkkk Chief of Police FLA Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals; However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date IncidentlArrest Location Possession of Cannabis and 96 Street /Collins Avenue 04/02/2015 Alcohol b A Minor Beach Side Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Beach access path, a Bal Harbour Police Officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis emitting from the area where five juveniles were loitering. The juveniles hid behind two beach sheds belonging to the St. Regis Hotel when they spotted the police Golf Cart approaching. As the officer walked up to the group, one of the juveniles tossed a clear plastic baggie containing a leafy substance suspected of being cannabis. The juvenile that tossed the baggie also possessed a bottle of alcoholic beverage. The juvenile was arrested for the cannabis and possession of alcohol by a minor. Another officer recognized the juvenile offender from a BOLO (be on the look -out) for a suspect involved in a prior burglary at the St. Regis out door bar which occurred on March 22, 2015. Bal Harbour Detective Gonzalez who had been assigned the St. Regis investigation was notified of the arrest. The other four juveniles involved were counseled and released to their parents. Date Incident/Arrest Location 10245 Collins Avenue 04/05/15 Damaged Property Carlton Terrace) Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Police were summoned to the Carlton Terrace regarding a minor vehicle crash involving the Bel Harbour Shuttle Bus. Upon the officer's arrival, the shuttle bus driver stated he arrived at the Carlton Terrace to pick up passengers and as he was exiting the driveway, he inadvertently struck the overhang of the building. The impact damaged the top right corner of the shuttle bus. There were no complaints of injuries from any of the passengers aboard the shuttle bus and the building did not sustain damage. Photographs of the shuttle bus and building were taken and submitted with the police report. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/03/15- 04/05/15 Passover/Holiday Weekend Bal Harbour Village Jurisdiction Narrative I Comments During the Passover and Easter holiday weekend, Bal Harbour Police Officers maintained a high level of police presence throughout the community. Additionally officers were assigned to designated fixed posts, bicycle patrol, and the golf cart detail to ensure the safety of pedestrians as they walked to and from their respective religious institutions. OVERTON Chief of Police FAA Date IncldenW, ins st Location 04/05/15 Vehicular Traffic and Beach Visitors North Parking Lot / Bal Harbour Beach Narrative I Comments Due to the closure of Haulover Park, the village experienced an increased number of patrons visiting the beach. Officers were assigned to monitor parking at the North Lot, and traffic flow along Collins Avenue. Additionally, an officer was assigned to the golf cart to maintain a police presence on the beach. A total of two verbal warnings were issued for possession of Styrofoam products. As a result of the proactive response of the Bal Harbour Police Officers, no disturbance or nuisance complaints were received. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/09/15 Traffic Incident Collins Avenue Narrative I Comments Due to several incidents occurring, virtually simultaneously, traffic along Collins Avenue and 96 Street was heavily congested at approximately 2:00 P.M. A traffic crash in the city of Sunny Isles Beach blocked northbound traffic on Collins Avenue, a traffic crash in the Town of Surfside delayed southbound traffic along Collins Avenue and the bridge on the Kane Concourse Causeway was opened for approximately 15 minutes due to on -going construction. Bal Harbour Police officers were deployed at intersections in order to mitigate the effects of the traffic congestion. Normal traffic flow along all the impacted roadways returned by approximately 3:00 P.M. Completed by: Captain M.
