Gonzalez, Village Manager DATE: April 17, 2015 SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of April 10 -April 16, 2015 The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication and transparency. OVERT p er�IDr Chief of Police °LIFE" FLA Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals; However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date incident/Arrest Location 04/11/15 AOA / Miami -Dade Police 10800 Collins Avenue/ Tower 13 Narrative I Comments The Miami- Dade Police Department received a call regarding two males fighting on Haulover Beach near Life Guard Tower 13. Upon receipt of the call, Miami Dade Police requested assistance from the Bal Harbour Police Department. Miami Dade and Bal Harbour Police Officers arrived and determined that the fight never occurred. Bal Harbour Police officers completed a police report documenting the request for assistance. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/11/15 AOA/ Bay Harbour Island Police 10200 Collins Avenue/Bridge Narrative I Comments The Surfside Police Department broadcasted a BOLO (Be On The Look Out), for a male who fled into their jurisdiction after he was involved in an altercation in Bay Harbour Islands. A Bal Harbour Police Officer who was working an off -duty detail at the Consultatio construction site observed a male matching the description of the BOLO issued and detained the individual. Bay Harbour Island Police Department responded and completed their investigation. No other action was taken by the Bal Harbour Police. Date incident/Arrest Location 04/13/15 AOA/Miami-Dade Police 10300 Collins Avenue (Southbound) Narrative I Comments The Miami -Dade Police Department requested assistance from the Bal Harbour Police Department with a traffic crash with injuries located on Collins Avenue near Haulover Park. The request for assistance was due to the delayed arrival of the Miami -Dade Police Department's Officer. Bel Harbour Police Officers arrived at the scene of the traffic crash and provided assistance until the arrival of the Miami -Dade Police officer. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/13/15 AOA/Sunny Isles Beach Police 9940 Collins Avenue Narrative I Comments The Sunny Isle Beach Police Department broadcasted a BOLO (Be On The Look Out) for a male who committed a theft in their jurisdiction and Fled Southbound on Collins Avenue in a white Buick. A Bal Harbour Police officer observed the vehicle travelling South on Collins Avenue into the Bal Harbour Village. The officer communicated the suspect's direction of travel, which led to the vehicle being stopped and the driver detained. The Sunny Isles Police Department responded and arrested the suspect for the theft. V •p a Er FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/14/2015 AOA/Police Involved Shooting 1900 San Souci Boulevard Narrative / Comments A request for assistance was broadcasted for a City of Miami Police Officer who was being fired upon by a suspect with an assault rifle. A North Miami Police Officer located the suspect in the 1900 block of San Souci Boulevard and confronted the suspect, which also resulted in an exchange of gunfire. Bal Harbour Police responded to the request for assistance from the North Miami Police Department; however the suspect was in custody upon their arrival. The Bal Harbour police officer assisted with securing the perimeter of the crime scene. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/16/2015 Found Firearm 9700 Collins Avenue Versace Store Narrative I Comments An employee of Versace alerted the Bal Harbour police Department of a loaded firearm which was found in the store's dressing room during preparations for the store's closing. Bal Harbour Police officers responded and secured the firearm. A records check of the firearm's serial number revealed that the firearm was not reported stolen nor was it wanted in association with a crime. The firearm was entered into the Florida and national data base as recovered and placed in the property and evidence facility. Completed by: Captain M.
