The regular meeting of Town Council was held today at
4 P. M. in the Council Room and was attended by Mayor Dutton,
who presided, Councilmen Hosti, Strong, Meddin, Town Attorney
Solms, Supt. Reed, Chief MoCutchen and Mgr. Lang.
The minutes of the meeting of October 20th were read and
adopted.
Supt. Reed reported that work on the groin in the vicinity
of 17th Street was under way, at this time there are no high
tides to interferel_tith the work. On the seawall at Lovell Sta-
tion the tie -backs have been replaced. Councilman Strong stated
that to extend the lst Street jetty out about 4001, using rip -
rap, asphalt, etc., would cost about $1500.00, the Engineers
estimate is about $30,000.00.
Councilman Strong reported that the estimates received
by him from several contractors to build the room at the Jail
were too high, and it was decided that the Town would do it for
about $400.00.
The bill for engineering services submitted by Thomas &
Hutton for $1,000.00 was held up at this time.
Mr. Lang reported that Mrs. Frank Naylor agreed to pay
$10.00 per month on the water meter installed on property own-
ed by her where Hodges store is located.
It was moved, seconded and passed that bills for the month
of October for General Government amounting to $1780.25 and
for the Water Department $297.90, Groin and Seawall, $347.30,
be paid.
It was moved, seconded and passed that Water Revenue Cer-
tificates be purchased with some of the reserve funds in the
Water Department. Councilman Strong will handle.
Councilman Hosti stated that the Fire Department needs
about $400.00 worth of new double jacketed fire hose, he also
stated that the Department of Public Works has ten (10) lengths
of hose that was loane-to them and the Fire Department would like
to get it back or other arrangements `be`'made. It was moved, sec-
onded and passed that the double jacketed fire hose be purchased
and that Councilman Hosti handle the matter.
The matter of the contract of the Duncan Parking Meter Co.
with the Town was referred to Town Attorney Solms.
An offer was made to furnish the Town license plates num-
bered with the Town's name on them. Received as information.

Protests were made against the assessments on their prop-
erty by B. P. Hosti, E. C. Bobo and James A. Brown. Referred to
the Assessment Committee.
R. H. Seay requested that the discount be allowed on his
1952 taxes. Request denied.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the curtain used
on the stage in the auditorium be repaired. Councilman Strong
will handle the matter.
It was moved, seconded and passed that 1953 discounts be
allowed on the following: H. G. Butler, Est. John M. Wall, Est.
L. A. East, Charles & Max Kaminsky, Mary B. Peters, Mamie E. &
Ernest C. Bull, Robert E. Falligant, Hazle R. Failigant and
Mary E. Byrd.
Town Attorney Solms informed Council that in connection
with the extension of 6th Street that the Tybee Beach Company
wanted $2500.00, he found that the title to Memorial Park seems
to be in the Tybee Beach Company, part of rwhi�9» has been given
for shhool purposes, the Town does not have `it1e to it, the
Tybee Beach Company is willing to release their interests in con-
nection with their turning 6th Street over to the Town. The matter
was referred to Mr. Solms for handling.
A.request was made by the residents in the vicinity of
4th Street and 2nd Avenue for a street light in that location,
it was decided to transfer the street light in front of the
Town Hall building to the corner of 4th Street and Butter Ave.
Referred to Councilman Brown to handle.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the follow-
ing Resolution be adopted.
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the voter's registration list was opened
for registration on October 16, 1953, at the Clerk's office
in the Town Hall of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia,
and will remain open there until five o'clock P. M. November
30, 1953; and
WHEREAS under the charter of Savannah Beach, Tybee
Island, Georgia, said voter's list for registration must be
opened for a period of fifteen (15) days at a designated
place in the City of Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, and
some official designated to perform the service of registra-
tion of voters for said period of time; and,
WHEREAS, said fifteen (15) days commences on Decem-
ber 1, 1953, at 10 o'clock A. M. and closes on December 21,
1953, at 5 o'clock P. M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, and it
is hereby resolved by authority of the same that on December
1, 1953, the registration list and /or book for voters regis-
tration shall be located in the office of the Tax Assessors
of Chatham County on the first floor of the Court House
Building in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, and that Jeff
Dickey is hereby designated to perform the service of regis-
tration of voters at said location commencing at 10 o'clock
A. M. on December 1, 1953, and ending at 5 o'clock P. M. on
December 21, 1953, Saturdays and Sundays excepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of Council
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, make the arrange-
ments for carrying out the provisions of this resolution for
the location of said registration book and the registration
by the said Jeff Dickey of qualified voters pursuant of the
laws and charter of said municipality.
