OVERTO Chief of Police N\ Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals - However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date incident/Arrest Location 05/22/15 Suspicious Person 10200 Collins Avenue/Harbour Way West Narrative / Comments Officers were alerted to a male sleeping or incapacitated under the Haulover Bridge; upon their arrival the officers learned that the individual was not suffering a medical condition and was in fact resting. He told the officers that he was on his way to Miami Beach and had stopped in order to rest. A background check revealed that he was neither wanted nor reported endangered. Once released by the officers, he voluntarily continued towards Miami Beach. Date incident/Arrest Location 05/23/15 Power Outage Gated Community/ Collins Avenue(Westside Apartments) Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour Police Department received numerous calls from residents regarding power outages in the gated community and the apartments on the West side of Collins Avenue, including Building "D" of the Bal Harbour Shops. As a precaution officers increased patrol activity in the affected areas. FPL was notified and the power was subsequently restored. There were no reports of any criminal activity during the power outage. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/23/15 Distressed Kayakers ICW ( Marker 3&4) Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Inter -coastal waterway, the Bal Harbour Police Department's Marine Unit was notified by a boater that a vessel in the waterway had capsized, and the occupants were struggling in the water. The police vessel responded and located three individuals in the bay who were unable to re -board their Kayaks due to severe exhaustion. The officers provided the individuals with life vest and rescued them from the bay. The kayakers were transported to the Haulover Marina. OVERT Chief of Police Date incident/Arrest Location 05/2315 1 Fight/Juveniles 10200 block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments Officers were summoned to the west side of Collins Avenue and the 10200 block regarding a group of juveniles fighting near the bus stop. The arriving officers located the victims of the fight and after ascertaining a description of the offenders, advised the neighboring agencies. The other juveniles were detained by officers of the Town of Surlside Police Department. The parents for all of the juveniles were contacted and responded to the scene and all declined to proceed with any criminal charges. None of the juveniles received injuries nor were wanted for other criminal activity. The juveniles were subsequently released to their parents. Date incident/Arrest Location Traffic Enforcement/Driver 05/23/15 Awareness Detail 9700 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While addressing improper right turns at the 97 1h Street exit of the Bal Harbour Shops, officers initiated —a traffic stop. The driver was detained for an improper right turn. A records check of the detained individual's driver's license revealed that it had been revoked due to numerous suspensions of his driving privilege and he had been classified as a Habitual Traffic Offender. This means it is a felony for him to have been operating the vehicle. The driver was arrested for the offense. Date incident/Arrest Location 05/24/15 Power Failure 9600 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, officers discovered that the street lights on both sides of Collins Avenue from the 9600 block to the 9700 block were out. The outage also included the SunTrust Bank. After inspecting the exterior of the bank, officers contacted a representative in order to ensure that the interior was also secure. No security breaches were detected upon inspection. Bal Harbour Village Public Works personnel could not locate the nature of the outage; therefore it was reported to FPL. OVERT( Chief of Police hh DEPARTMENT of„A &C,., FLA' Date incident/Arrest Location 05/27/15 Trespass Warning Bal Harbour Park Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour Village Park and Open Spaces employee requested police reference a male causing a disturbance at the basketball courts. The male was being hostile and cursing during a game of basketball. The employee advised that this is an on -going issue with this individual, who has been warned in the past about his aggressive behavior not being acceptable. The individual was issued a trespass warning not to return to the park and left the area without any further issue. Completed by: Captain M.
