OVERT Chief of Police Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals - However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/19/15 Burglary to a Vehicle 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops Narrative / Comments Officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Shops parking garage regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim, a tourist visiting from Brazil, parked his vehicle on the pink level of the parking garage. Upon returning to his vehicle, he noticed that someone had smashed the passenger rear window and removed a blue back pack containing 2 cameras and other miscellaneous items. Officers conducted an area canvas in an effort to locate potential witnesses to no avail. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/21/15 Disoriented Driver 10200 Collins Avenue (Beach Jetty) Narrative / Comments Officers received a call regarding a vehicle that had driven onto the jetty. They located the vehicle at the west end of the jetty with its left front tire into the rocks. The driver stated he did not realize the area was inaccessible to vehicles until he reached the beach. Upon attempting to turn around he drove off of the jetty. The driver was neither impaired nor injured. The vehicle was disabled and had to be removed by a wrecker. There was no damage to the jetty due to the incident. OVERTO r Chief of Police FL F11 Data Incident/Arrest Location 9700 Collins Avenue 06/22/15 Burglary/Commercial Vehicle (Bal Harbour Shops) Narrative / Comments A burglary of a commercial vehicle was reported at the Bal Harbour Shops. The vehicle was delivering merchandise to Valentino, located in the shops. The delivery driver parked the vehicle in the loading zone and secured the cargo door with a pad lock. Upon returning to the vehicle he noticed that the pad lock had been cut open and property had been removed from the cargo area. Video surveillance footage of the loading zone was examined revealing a male cutting the pad lock with what appears to be a set of bolt cutters, remove merchandise from the delivery truck and load it in an awaiting vehicle parked in the garage. A B.O.L.O. sheet was completed and forwarded to all police agencies in the county with the photograph of the vehicle. The case continues under investigation. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/25/15 Unsecured Residence 148 Bal Bay Drive Narrative I Comments While on routine patrol in the gated community a Bal Harbour police officer discovered an open door at an unoccupied residence. The home owner was contacted and upon returning to the residence advised that no items appeared to be missing. The owner believes he may have left the door ajar accidently when left the residence.
