SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of
June 26, 2015 through July 1, 2015
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication and
transparency.

500 block of 96 Street
Narrative / Comments
A traffic stop was conducted on the 500 block of 96 Street due to a traffic infraction. A check of the
operator's driver's license revealed he had never obtained a valid license. The driver was cited and
arrested for the violation. A check of his criminal history did not reveal any outstanding arrest warrants;
therefore he was allowed to sign a promise to appear in court at a later date and released. The vehicle
was removed by the passenger who did possess a valid Florida driver's license.

Narrative I Comments
The North Miami Police Department requested the assistance of Bal Harbour police officers in locating a
wanted subject inside the Bal Harbour Shops. The subject was located at Carpaccio's Restaurant and
detained without incident. Bal Harbour Shops security personnel issued the subject a trespass warning,
not to return to the Bal Harbour Shops and the subject was released in the custody of a North Miami Police
detective. No other police action was taken by Bal Harbour police officers.

Burglary to a Vehicle
10250 Collins Avenue BH Square
Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour police received a call regarding a burglary to a vehicle at the location. The complainant
advised, she parked her vehicle on the side of the apartment building and upon returning discovered her
wallet had been removed from the vehicle. She further advised that a plastic cup located in the center
console cup holder of the vehicle did not belong to her. The vehicle and the cup were processed for finger
prints which were sent for examination to the Miami -Dade Police Crime Laboratory. An area canvass did
not reveal security cameras or witnesses to the incident. A Bal Harbour police officer conducted a crime
prevention examination of the property and recommended the lighting for the parking lot be repaired and
enhanced. The victim advised the wallet only contained credit cards and her driver's license.

1 Dogs on the Beach
10200 Block on the Beach Side
Narrative / Comments
A citizen called and advised the Bal Harbour Police Department of two separate parties with dogs
on the beach. A police officer made contact with both parties and informed them of the village
ordinance and restrictions, regarding dogs on the beach. One party was a tourists and the other
were two teenagers whose family had just moved to the Bal Harbour Village. Neither party was
aware of the ordinance.

Assist a Vessel
Haulover Inlet (by the Bridge)
Narrative / Comments
Over the weekend the Bal Harbour Marine Patrol participated in
Operation Dry Water; a Multi -Agency Task
Force for Boating Safety and Boating Under the Influence Detection. During the operation the unit was
alerted to a vessel taking on water in the Haulover inlet.
The officers assisted the operator of the
distressed vessel to the marina.

1 Inclement Weather Conditions
Bal Harbour Village
Narrative / Comments
At approximately 5:20 P.M., a severe thunderstorm consisting of heavy wind and rain impacted the Bal
Harbour Village. During the storm, three palm trees were damaged and fell partically onto Collins Avenue
impeding the flow of northbound traffic on Collins Avenue. Officers were deployed to assist with the safe
and orderly flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
One of the fallen palm trees damaged a street sign in front of 10175 Collins Avenue. Public Works
personnel responded and removed the damaged palm trees and debris from the roadway. No other
damage or injuries were reported.
