SUBJECT: Water Valve Replacement
LETTER TO COUNCIL
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with an update of the
replacement of a fire hydrant valve that is still currently inoperable. On Thursday, July 30,
our contractor successfully replaced the faulty valve at 174 Park Drive. However, due to
time constraints, the crew postponed the replacement of the second valve. The remaining
valve is located at 290 Bal Bay Drive adjoining the Quarzo Hotel parking lot. Parking will not
be affected during this operation.
The repairs are scheduled to begin at 11:00 pm on Thursday, August 6 and continue
through the night until 5:00 am of the following morning of Friday, August 7. We will
excavate and expose the pipe on Thursday during the day to minimize the amount of work
required during the night. The hole will be covered with plywood and bordered with a safety
fence along the perimeter.
In order to complete the repairs, staff will shut off all water service during the date and time
listed above at the building addresses listed below:
• 290 Bal Bay Dr. (Quarzo)
• 286 Bal Bay Dr. (under construction)
Notices will be sent out in advance to these locations advising of the water service
disruption.
