OVERTON Chief of Police Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the listed totals. However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date InciderrvArrest Location 08/09/15 Traffic Arrest 9800 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While conducting a radar speed enforcement detail on Collins Avenue, a Bal Harbour Officer effectuated a traffic stop on a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit. During a standard background check, the officer discovered the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended Florida Drivers' License and a seized tag order issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The officer seized the tag and issued the driver multiple traffic citations. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/11/15 Open Garage Door 57 Camden Court Narrative / Comments While conducting a mandatory security check of the property, Bal Harbour Police officers discovered the garage door was open. The officers conducted a search of the residence to ensure that the home wasn't burglarized. The officers were able to determine that there were no signs of forced entry or any other evidence of a burglary. The incident was documented a reported to the owner. Date incident/Arrest Location 08/11/15 AOA/Davie Police Department 10275 Collins Avenue(Harbour House) A detective from the Davie Police Department requested assistance from the Bal Harbour Police Department with locating and checking on the welfare of a juvenile involved in a minor altercation in the Town of Davie. BHPD officers located the juvenile and his guardian. BHPD officers verified and confirmed that there were no issues of concern with the juvenile. OVERT N h Chief of Police 6�a 0 Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/11/15 Vehicle Burglary 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops) Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour Officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Shops regarding a vehicle burglary that occurred on the pink level of the parking garage. BHPD officers arrived and discovered that unknown person(s) smashed the rear vent window of the victim's vehicle and removed two briefcases that were left visible in the rear seat. Miami Beach Crime Scene Technician responded and processed the vehicle for fingerprints. BHPD detectives are conducting a follow up investigation of this incident. Date incident/Arrest Location 08/13/15 Suspicious Male 96 Street/ Beach Jogging Path Narrative / Comments While conducting a mandatory security check of the Bal Harbour Beach area, officers discovered a suspicious male in the area. Officers conducted an inquiry to determine if the male needed medical or social assistance. The male explained to the officers that he is new to the area and is presently homeless. The officers provided the male with homeless shelter information and offered transportation to the nearest shelter. The male declined the assistance and immediately left the area. The male did not have a criminal history or active warrants. Date incident/Arrest Location 08/10-08/13/15 Traffic Safety & Enforcement Collins Avenue Corridor Initiative Narrative / Comments In an effort to discourage speeding and increase driver awareness, Bal Harbour Police Department officers conducted a Traffic Safety and Speed Enforcement initiative on the Collins Avenue Corridor. During the Safety and Enforcement Initiative, officers conducted radar speed enforcement details, pedestratian crosswalk details and motorist educational activities. This campaign will continue for the next 30 days with an emphasis during the early morning hours. Completed by: Captain M.
