SUBJECT: Transition to .GOV E-mail Domain
This Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you that, as part of the Village's IT Master Plan, on
Sunday, August 23, 2015, our information technology service provider will begin working on
the transition of our email system to the .GOV domain.
As part of this transition, all Village employees will receive a new email address with a .GOV
domain extension. This email will replace current email addresses, including
bhvexchange.org, balharbour.org and balharbourpolice.org domains. Over the next six (6)
months, all .ORG email addresses will be forwarded to the new email, in order to allow for
residents, vendors and other contacts to update our contact information. An automatic
message will be sent from the .ORG domains alerting senders that the recipient has a new
email address.
Each user's old emails will be archived in order to comply with Public Records Law, and will
be accessible and searchable through Outlook.
In addition, all internal servers will be transitioned to the new server, which was purchased
as part of FY 2014/15 IT Capital Plan. Moreover, the transition of the Bal Harbour Police
server has already been completed.
Although our IT service providers will be working to ensure a seamless transition, if you
have any issues accessing your emails, please feel free to contact Rich Carmenaty, IT
Technician, at (786) 879-0546. Rich will be reaching out to you on Monday, August 24,
2015 to reconfigure your new email on your mobile devices (including smartphones and
iPads).
