However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/30/15 Hazardous Conditions 9703 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments On Sunday morning, the Village of the Bal Harbour experienced adverse weather conditions consisting of heavy rains and windy conditions associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Erika. As a result of the inclement weather, a crown from a Palm Tree located near the St. Regis Hotel was damaged and broke off. Public Works Department personnel responded and removed the debris. No injuries or additional damages were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/31/15 Lost or Stolen 10200 and Beach Jetty Narrative / Comments While conducting a routine Beach Check, a midnight shift Bal Harbour Police officer discovered that a metal garbage receptacle was missing from the Jetty. It is unknown if strong waves may have knocked it off the Jetty in the water or it was removed by someone. The Public Works Department has been notified and they will replace the garbage receptacle as soon as possible. Date Incident/Arrest Location 09/01/15 F Bird In Distress 10200 and Beach Jetty Narrative / Comments A tourist out on the Jetty found a bird in distress tangled in fishing line. The tourist rescued the bird with the assistance of a Bal Harbour Police officer. OVERTON a��y Chief of Police 0�,0 I mow' 0 kpO LiCF'.+i: FLA Date incident/Arrest Location---- 09/01/15 Fraud/Possession of Cocaine Arrest 9700 Collins Avenue Saks Fifth Avenue Narrative / Comments Saks security apprehended a subject who had just made a purchase with fraudulent/stolen credit cards. After being taken into custody by Bal Harbour Police officers, a search of the subject revealed he was in possession of a small baggie containing cocaine. A field test using a Cocaine Test Kit yielded positive results for cocaine. A national and local warrant check revealed that the subject has an extensive criminal history for fraud and theft. The subject, who also had an open Traffic Bench Warrant for a suspended license, was arrested and transported to jail. In addition, Bal Harbour Shops security issued a trespass warning to the arrestee. Date Incident/Arrest Location 09/01/15 Police Bicycle Patrol Collins Avenue / 96 Street / Residential Area / Beach Area Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour Police officer conducted Bicycle patrols from 10 AM to 4 PM. During this time the officer made several contacts with citizens, business owners and tourists. Date incident/Arrest Location 09/02/15 Traffic Enforcement Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Police Department's midnight shift squad conducted a Traffic Enforcement Detail on Collins Avenue from 8 PM to 2 AM. The squad addressed, speeding, seat belt, move over, Illegal right turns and parking violations. The squad Issued 22 Citations, 2 Parking Violations and 2 Warnings during the detail. Note: The Bal Harbour Police Department has commenced operational planning for the upcoming High Holidays, and is coordinating its efforts with the Surfside and Bay Harbor Islands Police Departments. The plan includes increase patrols and the posting of officer at strategic locations throughout the Village to enhance pedestrian safety.
