SUBJECT: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the week of
October 2, 2015 through October 8, 2015
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Narrative / Comments
At the request of the Bay Harbour Islands Police Department, an officer responded to the scene of
a traffic accident involving a suspected impaired driver. The BHPD officer assisted with the Field
Sobriety Examination of the driver. The examination concluded that the driver was not impaired.
Once the scene was cleared, the Bal Harbour police officer returned and resumed normal patrol
functions.

10200 Collins Avenue (Beach)
Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour Police Officers were summoned to the beach walking path regarding a missing five
year old child. The father notified the Police Department when he noticed his son had walked away
undetected. Bal Harbour Police Officers; along with several hotel and condominium staff personnel,
coordinated an organized grid search for the child. Moments after the search was commenced the
child was located walking on the jogging path, unharmed. Father and child were reunited.

10101 Collins Avenue
Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour Police Officers responded to the area of 10101 Collins Avenue regarding a damaged
palm tree. When the officers arrived, they discovered the crown of the palm tree was hanging from
the base of the tree, causing a hazard to passing pedestrians. Officers on the scene secured the
area and restricted all pedestrian traffic. Public Works personnel responded and removed the
damaged portion of the palm tree. No injuries or damage to Village property was reported.

300 96t" Street (Sidewalk)
Narrative / Comments
A Public Works supervisor noticed a 12X12 crack on the sidewalk just east of the bus bench on 96
Street (300 block of 96 Street). An officer was requested in order to document and photograph the
incident for later repair. The damage does not pose a hazard to pedestrians.
