The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Narrative / Comments
A Public Works employee discovered that an unknown vehicle damaged the sod in the swale
area in front of 10100 Collins Avenue. A Bal Harbour officer responded and documented the
incident. Photographs depicting the damage were taken. No other damages were reported and
there were no witnesses to the incident.

ONarrative / Comments
The Town of Surfside Police Department received a call of a road rage incident possibly involving
a firearm. Surfside Police broadcasted a description of the vehicle involved in the incident, and
Bal Harbour police officers responded to the area in order to assist. The vehicle in question was
subsequently located by Surfside police officers and the driver was detained. Bal Harbour officers
arrived and assisted Surfside officers with the incident. The driver was not in possession of a
firearm and was eventually released. Surfside and Bal Harbour officers documented the incident.

Narrative / Comments
An elderly resident has been hospitalized for several days and is unable to collect her mail. The
resident's son was concerned and requested our assistance with the matter. The Bal Harbour
Public Service Aide responded to the post office and made arrangements for the mail to be halted
until the resident returns.

Narrative / Comments
While conducting a beach check, a Bal Harbour police officer located a person sleeping on the
beach. The person advised that he was homeless but refused any assistance or shelter. The
person had no open warrants and left the area after being supplied with the Homeless Assistance
Flyer.

10275 Collins Avenue
Narrative / Comments
A Bal Harbour Officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from a vehicle exiting the
covered parking garage of the location. After conducting a traffic stop the subsequent
investigation led to the arrest of the driver for felony possession of cannabis (456.5 Grams). A
total of $3,185.00 in U.S. Currency was also impounded after being found in a bag that also
contained cannabis residue. All contraband was placed in the Bal Harbour police evidence locker
and the subject was transported to the Miami -Dade County Jail.

Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour Police Department was notified of a burst water pipe spraying water onto the street.
The officer arrived and discovered that a sprinkler pipe had burst from what appeared to be
normal wear and tear and not an act of intentional damage. Public Works personnel responded
and repaired the pipe.

Narrative / Comments
The victim had workers in his residence installing closet doors. Once the workers had departed,
the victim discovered that $1500.00 and miscellaneous property were missing from his dresser
drawers. The officers inquired with the building's security personnel, who provided them with the
identity of the installers. The detective bureau shall continue the investigation.
