HomeMy Public PortalAbout1993-30 LPA Opposition to the Proposed Master Plan for Crandon BoulevardVILLAGE CLERK RESOLUTION NO. 93—LPA-30 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY 'BISCAYNE, FLORIDA; LOCAL :PLANNING AGENCY IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED MASTER PLAN FOR CRANDON PARK AS PREPARED BY THE OLMSTEAD FIRM; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL, ACTING AS THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY, OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, Crandon Park is presently the subject of an on -going master planning process being conducted by the Olmstead Firm; and WHEREAS, the proposed master plan zrovides for the elimination of certain active recreational areas including baseball facilities which have been the basis upon which Metropolitan Dade County has approved substantial residential development in the area; and WHEREAS, the facilities proposed for elimination are vital to the park and recreation needs of the residents of Dade County and in particular the residents of Key Biscayne; and WHEREAS, Village Council in its capacity as a Local Planning Agency finds that the master plan as proposed is contrary to the best interest of its residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL, ACTING AS THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY, OF KEY BISCAYNE THAT: Section 1. The Village opposes any effort through the master planning process or otherwise to eliminate or reduce the amount of active recreational space (in particular baseball facilities) from Crandon Park. Section 2. Effective Date. This resolution shall be effective upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th DAY OF July , 1993.
