Subject: Update on Holiday Lights and Displays
This Letter to the Council (LTC) is to provide you with an update regarding the holiday lights
and displays throughout Collins Avenue.
According to our agreement with South Florida Lighting Team / Miami Christmas Lights, they
have until November 20, 2015 to complete the installation of the display. Since our official
lighting ceremony on November 12, the vendor has continued to address several ongoing
issues with the lights and displays. Once the complete installation is in place — effective today
— the vendor shall ensure that all decorations are functioning by 5:00 p.m. each evening
during the display period and shall have a lighting crew trained and experienced in maintain
and restoring the holiday lighting systems and inspect all decorations each evening during
the display period. At the conclusion of their nightly inspection, the vendor shall reset, modify
and take all actions necessary to ensure the display is fully operational.
The display ornaments and gift boxes in the center median of Collins Avenue were not
originally supposed to be lit, but based on feedback we have received, we have asked the
vendor to provide up -lighting to each of these displays and they have agreed to do so, at no
charge to the Village. The vendor has ordered the lighting and they expect to be installed in
the next few days. Village staff will continue to be in contact with the vendor to correct any
ongoing or future issues.
The Shul of Bal Harbour has notified us that they plan to place their Menorah on Founder's
Circle prior to the start of Chanukah and have scheduled their annual Chanukah celebration
for Tuesday, December 8 at 5:00 p.m.
