However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date incident/Arrest Location 11/25-26/15 Traffic Incident / Missing Person 9700 Block Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments On November 25, a Bal Harbour officer encountered a mired rental vehicle on Collins Avenue. The female driver had a suspended driver's license from Pennsylvania. The leasing company requested we tow the vehicle for safe keeping. The female was issued a citation and subsequently released. Later in the evening, the female's belongings were found abandoned in the city of Bay Harbor Islands. Attempts to locate the female were met with negative results. The female's husband was contacted in Pennsylvania who informed the officers his wife is mentally ill and is prescribed medication for mental disability, and is possibly a danger to herself. As a precaution, Bal Harbour officers entered the female as missing/endangered in the local and national database. An information flyer was issued to all local agencies. On November 26, a Miami Beach police officer located the female and transported her to an area hospital for evaluation. The female's husband and mother were contacted and advised they were flying in on Friday to ensure the female returned home safely. Date incident/Arrest Location 11/26/15 Damaged Fencing 66 Bal Bay Drive (construction site) While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour officer found an open gate and damages to its support bracket. The site was checked and there was no indication of foul play. It is very likely strong winds and inclement weather conditions contributed to the damages to the fence. OVER N Chief of Police Date Incident/Arrest Location 11/26/15 Ordinance Violation 290 Bal Bay Drive Quarzo Hotel 11/28/15 Narrative / Comments Information was received that the Quarzo Hotel was providing concession services behind the Ritz -Carlton. Bal Harbour Police contacted Quarzo management who confirmed they started providing beachside service three weeks ago. It was determined the Quarzo Hotel is not approved or permitted to provide concession services. Therefore, Bal Harbour officers issued a warning to the Quarzo Hotel and advised the Quarzo Hotel personnel to cease the service. On Saturday November 28, the Bal Harbour police department received a call in reference to Quarzo personnel placing chairs and tents next to Ritz -Carlton controlled area. A Bal Harbour police sergeant responded and advised Quarzo personnel to remove the chairs/tents. Quarzo Hotel personnel responded and immediately removed the furniture from the beach. Bal Harbour officers documented the incident and forwarded the information to the Code Compliance Officer for follow- up. Date Incident/Arrest Location 11/27/15 Trespassing Incident 10295 Collins Avenue Ritz -Carlton Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the Ritz Cartlon Hotel regarding two juveniles who had entered the Ritz -Carlton pool area via the beach access. Once inside the property, the juveniles used towels and consumed chips which were exclusively for hotel guests. Bal Harbour officers arrived and located the juveniles. Ritz -Carlton loss prevention declined to prosecute the juveniles. Nevertheless, a trespass warning was issued and documented by the Bal Harbour officers. The juvenile's parents were contacted and informed of the incident. Date Incident/C�ondition��9900 Location 11/27/15 Hazardous Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments An anonymous citizen called the police department and advised of a Palm tree leaning over the side walk. Units encountered a newly planted Canary Island Date Palm partially uprooted, leaning over the side walk and in danger of falling onto Collins Avenue. A police unit blocked the northbound lane for safety. Public works was contacted and responded to the scene. Brinkman personnel were also dispatched to the scene and temporarily secured the tree. M Chief of EPARTMENT )N ♦ LA Date Date incident/Arrest Location 11/27/15 Grand Theft / Credit Card Fraud 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops 11/28/15 Felony False Impersonation Gucci Boutique / Tiffany & Co. Narrative / Comments On Friday an unknown male purchased goods from Gucci and Tiffany with a fraudulent credit card in the amount of $15080.00. On Saturday, 11/28/15, the same subject returned to Gucci and attempted to make another purchase, however employees recognized him and alerted the Bal Harbour police department. Police officers responded and placed the subject under arrest without incident. The subject was in possession of a fraudulent Florida driver's license, along with forged credit cards. The subject had no current open warrants, but he has an extensive criminal history The subject was processed at the Bal Harbour Police Department and later transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. All contraband and property were impounded and placed in the Bal Harbour police evidence locker. Date incident/Arrest Location 11/28/15 Assist Other Agency 10800 Collins Avenue Miami Dade County Haulover Beach Narrative / Comments Miami -Dade Police Officers were dispatched to Haulover Beach in reference to a Jet Ski accident with injuries. Bal Harbour police units were also dispatched due to the fact that the caller advised that the accident was near the rocks, possibly on the Bal Harbour Village side of the channel. Bal Harbour officers arrived and advised the Miami -Dade dispatch that everyone was out of the water and on the Haulover side. There were no serious in'uried reported. Date incident/Arrest Location 11/28/15 AOA/North Miami PD 129 NE 10th Avenue Narrative / Comments North Miami Police requested assistance from the Bal Harbour Police canine unit to conduct a search of a vehicle that had a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior compartment of the vehicle. The Bal Harbour K-9 unit and his partner APIS responded and conducted a search but the results of the search were negative. 655 NINETY-SIXTH STREET • BAL HARBOUR FLORIDA 33154 • (305)866-5000 • (305)993-5153 FAX BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MARK N. 0 Chief of Date incident/Arrest Location 9700 Collins Avenue 12/03/15 Narcotics Arrest Bal Harbour Shops Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour officer detected a strong odor of Marijuana emitting from a vehicle that had just parked in the second level of the parking garage. As the officer approached the vehicle one of the two occupants attempted to destroy a small amount of Marijuana. The subsequent investigation led to the finding of additional baggies of Marijuana concealed in the second subjects pants leg and a MDMA Ecstasy Pill within in the vehicle. The attempted destruction of evidence and the possession of the Ecstasy pill are Felony violations. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail for booking. The contraband was impounded and placed in the Bal Harbour police department property locker. The subject's vehicle was also impounded. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/03/15 Battery/Traffic/Narcotics Arrest 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops Narrative / Comments While on the way to work, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly southbound on Collins Avenue entering our city limits. The driver proceeded south and entered the Bal Harbour Shops where he continued driving in a reckless manner. The driver drove with wanton and willful disregard for property and persons in his path. After parking near Makoto, the driver exited and was immediately approached by a shops' security guard, as the officer walked up to the scene the officer witnessed the driver be verbally aggressive towards the secuirty guard and intentionally chest bumped him. The driver was placed under arrest by the Bal Harbour Officer. The subject was charged with Reckless Driving and Battery. The subsequent search, incident to the arrest revealed a small baggie containing suspected cannabis. The subject was as charged with possession of a controlled substance and was transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. The Marijuana was impounded and placed in the Bal Harbour police department evidence property locker and the subject's vehicle towed. Completed by: Captain M.
