OVER ON r Chief of Polic p\�e FLA Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the listed totals. However, they are of sufficient interest to be noted. Date incident/Arrest Location 12/18/15 Assist Bay Harbor Island 96 Street & East Bay Harbor Drive A Bal Harbour police officer witnessed a three car vehicle accident with injuries. Bal Harbour units assisted by rendering aid and directing traffic until the disabled vehicles were removed. The traffic crash was investigated by the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/20/15 Found Property North Parking Lot Narrative / Comments While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour police officer found a back pack containing personal items on the ground. The property was impounded for safe keeping and placed in the police property lockers. Later in the evening the owner was located and the property was released back to their custody. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/21/15 Narcotics Arrest 300 Block of 96 Street Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police conducted a traffic stop for an expired tag/registration. During the course of the investigation the officers detected a strong odor or Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver voluntarily surrendered 6.5 grams of Cannabis which was inside the glove compartment. The driver was arrested and released on the scene on a promise to appear for court at a later date (PTA). Chief of Police DE P RTMENT 0FF'FR 0 N a E }add A � FL Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/22/15 Suspicious Person 10200 Block Beach Side Narrative / Comments While conducting a beach check, a Bal Harbour officer discovered a male sleeping next to a bicycle behind the Ritz -Carlton. The subject stated he was resting reference traveling to Broward County from Key West. A local and national history check revealed that the subject had no open warrants. The subject left the area after being notified that he could not sleep on the beach. Date incident/Arrest Location 12/22/2015 Vehicle Burglary Detail/Holiday Bal Harbour Shops Initiative Narrative / Comments In order to ensure public safety during this holiday season, the Bal Harbour Police Department has initiated an enhanced patrol initiative to ensure the safe and orderly flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic as well as targeted patrols to ensure the safety of all visitors and residents. One component of the initiative was a proactive suppression detail focusing on vehicle burglaries. Members of the department placed a vehicle with visible shopping totes in the parking lot. BHPD, with the assistance of personnel from the Golden Beach Police Department then established surveillance on the vehicle. The detail was terminated after several hours with no one burglarizing neither the vehicle nor any other vehicle in the parking garage. The detail shall continue through December 30th 2015.
