Date incident/Arrest Location 12/22/15 Suspicious Incident 291 Bal Bay Drive Quarzo Construction Site A concerned citizen called the police in reference to a person loitering inside the construction site. Bal Harbour officer responded and searched the entire site and did not locate anyone inside the premises. It should be noted that this location is checked hourly throughout all shifts. Date incident/Arrest Location 12/23/15 Dog Rescue Indian Creek Canal Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Marine Patrol unit was flagged down by a boater who had just rescued a dog that had fallen in the water. The owner was tracked down and the dog was returned in good health. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/23/15 Recovery of a Missing Person 1 9600 Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments Margate Police Department issued a Silver Alert for a missing elderly at risk male driving a Silver Hyundai. A Bal Harbour police officer located the vehicle which was being driven by the missing male. The individual suffers from Dementia; however he appeared to be in good condition. Further investigation revealed that the property's storm drain was overflowing due to Full Moon King Tides. Maintenance personnel were using a portable pump to redirect the water onto their own landscape causing it to run off toward the sidewalk. The water also filled the sewer basin thus emitting a sewer stench. Management immediately disconnected the pump and advised they would clean up the side walk. Public Works Supervisor Ron Nelson responded to the scene and coordinated the completion the incidents mitigation to the satisfaction of the Village's interests. On 12/24/15 Bal Harbour Public Works Supervisor Nelson confirmed the area was cleaned up by the 101 maintenance workers. Date incident/Arrest Location 12/23/15 Damage to City Property 2 Harbour Way Narrative / Comments A worker for The Miami Christmas Tree Company drove a work van onto the lawn behind the bus way in order to repair the holiday lights on the trees. When the driver completed the repairs, his work van became stuck in the wet grass and soil. In attempts to dislodge the vehicle, the driver caused significant sod damage to the area. The driver requested a private tow truck service and eventually the van was pulled out. Photos were taken of the damage and forwarded to the Public Works and Open Spaces director. Date incident/Arrest Location 12/25/15 Hazardous Condition Beach 110200 Block Jetty Narrative / Comments While conducting a check of the Jetty, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered a loose navigational buoy which had washed ashore. C Chief of DEPARTMENTo���pRoR_ 0 \/ FLA �7 Date incident/Arrest Location 12/27/15 Traffic Incident/Drug Arrest I West Municipal Parking Lot Narrative / Comments While patrolling the 96 Street corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a grey Mercedes Benz with an expired Florida tag exiting the Bal Harbour Shops. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the officer approached the vehicle, he detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license and a seized tag order issued by the Department of Highway and Safety Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Additionally, the driver acknowledged the marijuana scent and surrendered the remaining amount of marijuana that was in the vehicle. The driver was arrested. The tag was impounded and will be mailed to DHSMV. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/28—12/30/15 Traffic Detail Collins Avenue Corridor Narrative / Comments In response to the increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic, Bal Harbour police officers were strategically assigned traffic posts throughout the Collins Avenue corridor to assist with the orderly flow of traffic traversing north and south on Collins Avenue. Additionally, a Bal Harbour police officer was assigned to the pedestrian crosswalk at 9700 Collins Avenue to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians entering and exiting the Bal Harbour Shops. The increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic is suspected to be directly related to the number of local sporting, entertainment, and New Year's Day events and celebrations in the Miami -Dade County area.
