Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
COMMENTS:
Code Enforcement Officers (CEOs) investigated a report of a loose railing along the sea wall at the rear
of a multi -unit property in the 200 Block of Bal Bay Drive. An inspection of the railing confirmed it
could pose a hazard. CEOs issued a code violation warning and will follow-up to ensure the railing is
properly repaired.
Code Enforcement Officers responded to a complaint of work starting too early at a construction site
on Camden Drive. This was the second complaint in one month. A Code Violation Notice was issued
as this property had been previously warned. CEOs will continue to monitor the site to ensure
compliance with Village code.
Criminal Investigations
COMMENTS:
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) assisted Patrol officers in the investigation of a fraud case at
the Ritz -Carlton. The subject used fraudulent credit cards to book his stay. The crime was uncovered
when one of the cards was rejected by the bank. The subject was arrested and charged accordingly.
The CID is investigating a fraud case that occurred at Saks Fifth Avenue. The suspect used fraudulent
credit cards to purchase merchandise at the store. The store's cameras captured images of the
suspect. The images were used to create a Need -to -Identify flyer. Detectives distributed the flyer to
other law enforcement agencies in an attempt to identify the suspect.

Suspicious Vehicle
2 Harbour Way, Guardhouse
COMMENTS:
Kent Security advised officers that a vehicle entered the secure district and failed to check -in or provide
identification. A description of the vehicle was broadcasted to all units in the area. Officers intercepted
the vehicle along Harbour Way East, exiting the secure district. The investigation revealed the driver
worked for Uber and was unaware of the entry process. A routine computer check did not reveal any
warrant and the driver was released without further incident.

COMMENTS:
Officers were summoned to the lobby regarding a guest attempting to leave without paying for his hotel
stay and services. During the investigation, it was discovered the guest booked two rooms using a
fraudulent credit card and personal identification. A search of the suspect revealed additional
counterfeit credit cards and personal identifications. The suspect was transported to jail without further
incident.

COMMENTS:
Bal Harbour officers responded to the loss prevention office regarding to fraudulent transactions
completed on a victim's account. The victim told officers several unauthorized charges were debited to
her account totaling several thousand dollars. The suspects were captured on surveillance cameras
making the fraudulent transactions. This case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for
further follow-up.

COMMENTS:
Bal Harbour officers provided training to the St. Regis Hotel Staff. Active shooter response training was
requested to better prepare hotel staff in the event of an active shooter incident. The training included
lectures, PowerPoint, and practical exercises.
