CEOs met personally with hotel/condo staff to ensure proper notice was given. Code Enforcement Officers responded to a complaint of a noisy elevator at the Majestic Towers. CEOs met with the complainant and conducted sound readings. The readings were below the threshold for a noise violation. Criminal Investigations COMMENTS: The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) investigated a potential theft of over $100,000 in watches from a retailer in the Bal Harbour Shops. The investigation revealed the salesperson violated store policy during the sales transaction. Detectives and store personnel contacted the salesperson and the watches were returned. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Noteworthy Incidents/Arrests Date Incident Type ` 5 Location 11/27/2019 Traffic Incident 10200 Block Collins Av. COMMENTS: While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that committed a traffic infraction. A routine history check revealed the driver had a suspended license a seize tag order issued by DHSMV. The tag was impounded and the driver was issued several citations. Date Incident Type Y 4 3f 4` Location {, 11/29/2019 Suspicious Incident 9700 Collins Avenue, Rolex Store COMMENTS: Store Management reported a suspicious transaction involving 6 watches totaling $100,000 committed by one of their sales representatives. Bal Harbour police responded; however, the sales representative had left for the day. Rolex security personnel made contact with the employee who eventually made arrangements to return the watches. Store management confirmed the employee violated company policy; however, no criminal charges were filed at the time. Bal Harbour criminal investigation section will conduct a follow up regarding the possible fraudulent use of a credit card. Date ' InCident Type k Location 11/30/2019 Vehicle Burglary 10200 Block Collins Avenue, North Lot COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the North Municipal Lot regarding a vehicle burglary. Officers arrived and located the vehicle owner who said when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered his window smashed. Further investigation revealed someone smashed the window and removed a bookbag containing miscellaneous fishing equipment. No other incidents were reported. ciden Ica 11/30/2019 COMMENTS: Assist Bay Harbor Islands Police Department Bal Bay Drive and 96 Street Bay Harbor Islands police requested assistance after locating a stolen vehicle east on Broad Causeway. Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was taken into custody. The driver was arrested by Bay Harbor Island officers for Grand Theft Auto and possession of illegal narcotics. 4 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 11/30/2019 Assist Bay Harbor Islands Police Department 10000 Block of 98 Street COMMENTS: Bay Harbor Island police responded to a call regarding a possible burglary in -progress. Bal Harbour officers provided assistance with perimeter points near the residence. It was later determined no crime occurred and Bal Harbour officers returned to Village and resumed normal police functions. Date Incident Type Location 12/01/2019 Traffic Arrest Harbour Way and Collins Avenue COMMENTS: While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired tag. A routine history check revealed the driver had several suspensions of his license and a seize tag order issued by DHSMV. The tag was impounded and the driver was transported to Miami -Dade County Jail. Date Incident Type Location 12/02/2019 Theft 9700 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Shops COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were summoned to Neiman Marcus regarding a retail theft. A male suspect entered the store and retrieved merchandise and exited without paying. The subject's description and direction of travel was broadcasted via police radio. Officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate the suspect. This case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division forfollow-upinvestigation. Date Incident Type Location 12/03/2019 Assist other Agency (Miami -Dade) 290 Collins Avenue, Quarzo Hotel COMMENTS: Miami -Dade police were attempting to locate a missing juvenile who was making suicidal threats earlier in the day. Through cellular phone GPS, officers determined he was nearthe Quarzo Hotel. Miami -Dade officers requested Bal Harbour officer respond to the area in an attempt to locate the juvenile. Miami - Dade and Bal Harbour officers located the juvenile in his vehicle near the Quarzo Hotel. The juvenile was subsequently Baker Acted and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
